October 2014 Empties: Review

October 2014 Empties

Somehow, I have been using up products recently! It never occurred to me that I will be using up my makeup products months ago and now, I am writing my second review on my empties (products I have used up)! *Pats myself* for the achievement! Yes, it feels like an achievement to me to be able to religiously use something till it hits the last drop/bit.

October 2014 Empties consists of a range of products from makeup, skincare, haircare to home fragrance. “Wow, that’s impressive” was what I’m thinking as I type the previous sentence. I’m still in disbelief that I could use up a candle. One whole chunk of candle in less than 2 months :O Haha, anyway, here we go! I have a shampoo, a gel moisturiser, tea tree facial oil, a lipbalm, a brow gel and a home candle!
First up is the Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo – Anti-Dandruff Soothing Cleanser. It has a refreshing and pleasant scent that makes me feel relaxed while shampooing my hair. I got this for about $33 at the L’Oreal Private Sales in July if I’m not wrong but used it only in August and finally finished it! I do love this shampoo for its scent and the fresh feeling that I feel on my scalp after rinsing it off. As for anti-dandruff effects, I don’t have dandruff so I guess I can’t really gauge if it did work in preventing dandruff.

Being someone with very dehydrated skin, moisturising products are exceptionally important in my skincare routine. I was given this Soigne Aquafit Watercream to try out by my beautician at Face Bistro and I absolutely LOVE this gel moisturiser! It has a very lightweight texture that gets absorbed by my skin the instant I apply it on. The lightly floral and refreshing scent draws me to liking this product as well. As this little watercream is only a travel-sized, it took me about a month or so to finish using this. I think it’s time for me to get the full-sized soon! I will definitely look into repurchasing this product as long as I finish! Something to stay in my skincare routine!
By the way, Soigne is by CP Cosmetics, and its parent company is Sony Electronics. Like what?! I guess the Japanese just love to diversify, so I’m not that surprised after all if Fujifilm can produce a drug for the Ebola virus.
You know how acne always get to us right? It’s just annoying to have those pesky pimples appear out of nowhere, especially when the period hits! I have been using The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil to battle those small zits on my skin for a while now. I wouldn’t say I love this product, because it does very minimal to my skin after some time. It kind of worked for a few weeks on the small pimples but my skin got accustomed to the oil really quickly and I had to switch in and out of this. Pretty glad I finished this because I will definitely not repurchase. I know of friends who love this oil and use this daily so if you are someone who doesn’t have stubborn acne like me, you can get it to soothe the skin. I love the scent though!

For the record, I currently hold more than 10 lipbalms in my collection, simply because I have very dry lips. The first lipbalm that I have used up (kind of) is the Benefit Benebalm. I didn’t use up the entire tube but it kind of melted and disappeared, I don’t know why. I neglected it for a while and when I revisited the lipbalm, I got a shock to how much I had left in the tube – almost none. I don’t exactly fancy this lipbalm because it isn’t as hydrating as I would like it to be but nevertheless, I will keep this tube because it was a gift for me from dear Lorraine (@crazycoquelicot)! Thank you dear if you ever read this!! XOXO!

Next up is my favourite eyebrow tint/gel, the Shu Uemura Eyebrow Manicure in Honey Glaze. There was a period of time I was so into light tinted brows that I reach out to this eyebrow manicure every single day! I usually fill my brows first with my usual eyebrow pencil from Shu Uemura as well and then comb through my eyebrow hairs with this tint to make it softer. It also ensures that my hairs stay in place all day. I get a really precise and this makes it fuss-free for me because of the cone-shaped wand. The newer version of this has a small round-shaped wand and another has a paint brush kind of applicator which I don’t fancy at all. Boohoo for discontinuing this 🙁 I am going to look for alternatives already.

My favourite product for this month has got to be the home fragrance candle – Circa Home Tropical Flora. It has fragrance notes of honeysuckle, dewy green leaves and melon, a tropical blend that gives a very soothing and refreshing scent. It is quite sleep-inducing actually because I found that I could really sleep better when I burn this candle. I will definitely repurchase this if I finish my other candle from Circa Home! 🙂

Hope you like my short review on my October empties and let me know in the comments if you do purchase any of these items! 🙂

Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
