Being Singaporean, we often overlook our local gems and take for granted that there’s always time to visit our local sights. I can’t say that I’m not guilty of it until I spent a quality weekend getaway in our very own country c/o #OneFaberGroup!
Just less than 2 weeks ago, I spent a quality weekend with my family in Mount Faber and Sentosa. It was an early Mother’s Day treat for the mumsie who’s been working so hard for the fam. When I told my mum about it, she was so excited, especially for the cable car rides! I mean, when was the last time you even took a cable car ride? I remember mine was more than 15 years ago. It’s total nostalgia being able to ride on a cable car all over again.

Explorer Passport
With wanting to explore Sentosa island, mum and I set off early to The Outpost Hotel to deposit our baggage. We then embarked on the Explorer Passport – a self-guided adventure on the Singapore Cable Car through #FaberPeakSG. With a refreshed card-less Faber Licence membership, I could simply flash my digital membership on my smartphone for easy access to the cable car rides! The Faber Licence membership also allows me to enjoy exclusive privileges such as unlimited rides on the cable car all year round, dining perks and more.
Through the #SingaporeCableCar – with 5 cable car stations on 2 cable car lines, we went through a series of activities including collecting cute temporary tattoos, discovering the vintage versions of the cable car etc.! I shan’t spoil the fun for you – you gotta experience it yourself!
What I like about the Explorer Passport activities was the fact that it allows you to discover the attractions at every stop. Having been an iconic attraction for 45 years, the floor-to-ceiling glass panels on the cable car recaptured our hearts with the scenic views. My mum was so impressed at the new attractions we spotted while in the cable car. It totally made us rediscover the island! #SGCableCar45
Lunch at Faber Peak – Arbora
One of the highlights of the trip was the surprise Mother’s Day lunch we threw for my mum at #ArboraSG.
The word “Arbora” is derived from the Latin word “Arbor”, which refers to trees. The restaurant, perched atop the lush greenery of Mount Faber Park, is an ideal place for couples and even families. It serves up not only delicious western classics, but also majestic views of the rainforest hillside.
Believing that we only needed “a table for 2”, my mum was pleasantly surprised when my entire family arrived shortly after. We had such a hearty meal accompanied by the excellent weather and killer views.
At Faber peak, you can also ring a Bell of Happiness and string up a “wishing bell”! Like the “love locks” concept, the “wishing bell” can be purchased at the cable car station to be hung onto the railings. Pen your wishes down and they might just come true!
Our Stay at The Outpost Hotel
After lunch, we adjourned over to The Outpost Hotel (TOH). It took us about 10 minutes on the cable car, and a short 5-minute walk from the Merlion Station. If you didn’t know, TOH, together with Village Hotel at Sentosa are new establishments in Sentosa by Far East Hospitality.
Set on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Singapore Strait, TOH presents a romantic island getaway for couples. From glossy black marble contrasted with crisp white decor, to distinctive cocktails paired with Sentosa’s stunning sunsets, TOH is worth your weekend’s time for a staycation! Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed the stunning views and amenities, and the fact that we could pick our own minibar items upon check-in!
Note: TOH is an adult-only hotel. If you have kids, book your stay at Village Hotel at Sentosa instead.
“Never a dull moment at The Outpost Hotel”. Indeed, we spent an afternoon suntanning on the wicker day beds at the pool deck. There are 3 uniquely themed pools – Pamukkale Pool (a pool only for adults 16 and above), Lazy River Pool and Adventure Pool.
As we wanted some quiet time away from kids, we indulged in some chill time by the Pamukkale Pool. There’s even a pool bar if you feel like having a beer or cocktail.
Dinner at Faber Peak – Dusk Restaurant & Bar
By evening, after hours of dipping in the waters, our stomachs were rumbling. We showered, changed, and headed over to Dusk Restaurant & Bar at Faber Peak. At 100m above sea level, #DuskSG is the perfect vantage point for panoramic sunset views. Unfortunately, we didn’t make it before sunset but the view from the top is no less than breath-taking.
The outdoor restaurant and bar on the hilltop serve up European tapas accompanied with specially curated wines and cocktails. Mum and I ordered a Tiger Prawn Capellini, Forest Mushrooms with Sherry, Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin and a Warm Basil Souffle for dessert. With such a view, such a delicious spread, we had to order alcohol – Rose wine for mummy and a Gin and tonic for myself.
Miraculous Video-mapping Show
One of the other highlights in this trip is the #MiraculousSGvideo-mapping show. In celebration of the Singapore Cable Car’s 45th Anniversary, One Faber Group introduces the spectacular “Miraculous”, a multimedia night show. The show depicts a pair of squirrels, Mira and Mirak, who live in a heart shaped Angsana tree at Arbora.
The light effects with the wonderful visuals mapped on the tree in front of Arbora really captivated our hearts. My mum even recorded it down on her phone and re-watched on the cable car trip back to the hotel. If you have kids, I highly recommend this as an after-dinner entertainment.
Breakfast at Native Kitchen
If you’re staying at The Outpost Hotel, you’ll be able to choose between having breakfast at Native Kitchen or Ola Beach Club. Native Kitchen is located at Village Hotel at Sentosa, which was next to Outpost, so it’s convenient if you don’t want to travel out too far.
Native Kitchen celebrates the best of land and sea with their tropical island-inspired menu. For breakfast, the restaurant turns into an international buffet spread including some of our local favourites like Nasi Lemak, Rendang, Char Kway Teow and more. If there’s one thing you need to try from the breakfast buffet spread, it’s the Char Kway Teow. The wok-hei (a complex charred aroma derived from frying in a wok) taste was so prominent!
2D1N Staycation Vlog
Having said so much, I think the best way to show you how I spent my weekend staycation in Mount Faber and Sentosa is through a vlog!
To be honest, I haven’t had a quality weekend spent exploring this country. With a hectic lifestyle, all I want to do on weekends is to sleep in. I hardly have time to head out, let alone rediscover our local gems. However, after this exploration trip, I’m falling in love with our little island all over again! My memories of the cable car, the island and Mount Faber were recreated with my loved ones, all thanks to One Faber Group! I’m already thinking of heading back this June. Won’t you join me?
