This Christmas, it seems like “more is more” is the way to go when it comes to makeup. It’s all about piling up on the sparkling glitter, sweeping on the metallics and creating a new party look that’ll guarantee all eyes on you (or your eyes)!
Inspired by the shimmering 1920s and The Great Gatsby, The Body Shop® launches its Christmas/Winter Makeup Collection!
Don’t you love the geometry and reflective surfaces of the two palettes? There are two NEW Limited Edition eyeshadow palettes (S$36.90 each) in Swinging Silver, with cool shades, and Grooving Gold, with warm shades, all for this Christmas only! Both palettes come in laminated cardboard packaging.
The Grooving Gold Palette, in my opinion, is a lovely one for Fall makeup. It brings your eyes warmth with its bronze and burnt orange shades, great for the everyday makeup user as well.
The palette contains 4 eyeshadows:
A metallic amber with gold/silver micro glitter
A satin warm taupe
A matte chocolate brown with gold sparkles
A satin light honey gold
Here are swatches for you, swatched with only one swipe, on my medium skin tone. I find that the eyeshadows are rather smooth and pigmented as you can see from the swatches. However, they don’t last as long unless you layer on an eyelid primer beforehand. Also, smudging occurred on my lower lash line after a whole day of wear, so be careful on that.
This is how I incorporated all the shades for a warm, Fall makeup look! It’s basically using the amber shade as a base, intensifying the look with the chocolate brown shade, followed by adding a touch of gold!
“I see the turning of a leaf, dancing in the autumn sun, and brilliant shades of crimson glowing when the day is done.” – Hazelmarie Mattie Elliot
When Fall transitions to Winter, the skies are darker, the wind blows cooler. Likewise, the makeup transitions from warm orange hues to cool icy blues. The Swinging Silver Palette is just the right one for you to create your Winter makeup look.
The palette contains 4 eyeshadows:
A satin peach
A satin neutral dusty grey
A metallic deep navy blue
A metallic vibrant silver
These are the shades when swatched, with one swipe. As with the Grooving Gold Palette, this palette is equally smooth and pigmented as well. On my lids with an eye primer, they lasted the entire day but smudges on my lower lash line. I particularly love that silver shade. Makes your eyes pop!
Using all 4 shades, I’ve attempted a frosty eye makeup look. As usual, patting the darkest shade on the outer V while using the brightest and shiniest silver all over the eyes to make them stand out.
“It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it. ” – John Burroughs
If you’ve noticed, on both makeup looks, I’m wearing a lip tint in the collection as well, the Limited Edition Scarlet Starlet Lip & Cheek Doll (S$39.90). The Body Shop®’s iconic lip and cheek stain has been given a 1920s glamour makeover and is housed in a red and black packaging with prints just like the palettes!
The lip & cheek stain comes with a doe-foot applicator for dabbing onto the lips. I find that it works a lot better as a lip stain than a cheek stain. You kinda need a lot of dabbing, blending and layering before the colour will show up on the cheeks. If you notice carefully on the applicator, it has very fine multi-coloured micro glitter which makes it all very festive but it barely shows on the lips.
Scarlet Starlet, as the name suggests, is a bright orange-red with sparkles as mentioned. Its staying power on the lips is probably about 2-3 hours or after your first meal, whichever comes first. It isn’t as long-lasting though it’s supposed to be a stain. It’s consistency is also pretty watery which I’m not too keen on as well because it just means you need to pile up on the product to get the pigmentation.
On top of the reviewed, there are also products such as the Limited Edition The Sparkler in Silver Shimmer or Golden Glimmer (S$39.90 each) to make your body sparkle for the festive season! Or, grab your favourite Colour Crush Lipsticks (S$22.90), Coral Blush and Nude Allure, in the edgy 1920s-inspired packaging.
Since it’s the holidays, don’t forget to dress up the nails! There are 3 New Limited Edition Nail Polishes (S$12.90 each):
Nail sequins in Silver & Gold
Nade shade in Silver Metal & Gold Metal
Nail Colour in Burgundy Red & Blue Abyss
With so many edgy and grungy shades, you’ve got it nailed this party season. Not to forget the Silver Glitter Eyeliner (S$22.90) for bewitching dazzling eyes.
With so many festive-appropriate products in this collection, you are going to FEEL SO GOOD this Christmas! Deck the halls!~
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
