Where style meets comfort. Gone are the days where matte lip colours are commonly associated with dry lips. I’ve realised recently that brands are looking into improving their matte formula to increase moisture retention, which means YAY for all of us, the dry lips ladies!
Blended with a triple butter complex of shea, mango and coconut butter, these matte balms have left my lips feeling moisturised even after a few hours. Tested and proven, though not all shades feel the same way. The pigmentation of these are superb as well, as one swipe is all you need to get your lips coated.
I have with me three shades:
- Mischievous – pale powdery orange
- Unapologetic – sweet warm pink
- Standout – neutral red
In my opinion, the darker shades felt more comfortable on the lips whereas Mischievous felt like it was a matte paint splattered on my lips. I usually find darker matte shades more wearable on my lips as well. There’s just something about the formula of darker matte shades that makes them more pigmented and moisturising. Also, these do last on me throughout breakfast of cereal and noodles for lunch before I needed to reapply. Good staying power indeed.
Anyway, when I first received these 3 shades from the lovely PR team of Revlon Singapore, I immediately thought of the MAC Giambattista Valli lipsticks! Here are reference lip swatches to compare between the collections:
I guess it isn’t a 100% match except Charlotte and Standout, as Mischievous seemed lighter than Margherita and Tats is more cool-toned than Unapologetic. There are in total 12 shades from this line:
