Feminine looks with Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette: Review, Swatches & Makeup Look

Drown your eyes in femininity with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Eyeshadow Palette: Review, Swatches & Makeup Look

HAVE YOU HEARD?! Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) is finally stocked on Sephora Singapore! The highly anticipated brand, launched by Anastasia Soare, an icon in the beauty industry known for creating nearly perfect brows using the golden ratio method, is finally here! It was truly an honour to meet the maestro herself, the #QueenofBrows, during the launch party at 1880 last week, and I even got my palette signed by her!

ABH was founded in 1997 and was expanded to feature beyond brow makeup such as lip, contour and eye products. My favourite from the brand? The eyeshadow palettes of course! I am a fan of the eye palettes and I bought the Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette, the Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette and also, my favourite, the Norvina Eyeshadow Palette, which is also the one I’ll be reviewing here.

About The Norvina Palette

If you didn’t know, “Norvina” is the name of Anastasia’s daughter. To embody and reflect Norvina’s spirit, the palette was created. “I have always wanted to create a palette that embodies my spirit. I’m a dreamer at heart and I get lost in my own fantasy world daily. It’s a whimsical place that leaves you feeling carefree,” says Norvina. Well, I’m definitely feeling all happy vibes by looking at the shades that range from bold and bright mattes to soft pastel metallics.

The Shades

There are altogether 14 NEW shades:

  • Dreamer – Metallic pink champagne
  • Summer – Foiled golden topaz
  • Wild Child – Duo chrome frosty pink with a magenta shift
  • Rose Gold – Metallic rosewood
  • Celestial – Duo chrome plum with a violet shift
  • Dazzling – Cool-tone bronze with a violet shift
  • Drama – Duo chrome aubergine with a cool bronze shift
  • Base – Matte eggshell
  • Soul – Matte wisteria
  • Incense – Matte dusty terra-cotta
  • Love – Matte mid-tone cool pink
  • Volatile – Matte warm charcoal
  • Eccentric – Matte dark burnt orange
  • Passion – Matte deep garnet

I say that the shade range is pretty extensive for a palette, as half of them are mattes. I must have matte shades in a palette because they allow you to blend out eyeshadows nicely. There are warm and cool transition shades too and even a matte eggshell shade to pop on the brow bone which I appreciate. What I LOVE about this palette is that they’ve organised the shimmers and mattes on separate rows, in which only a true OCD like me will appreciate, haha!

However, even though the formula is pigmented, some of the shades, especially the mattes and chunkier shimmer shades (like Summer & Rose Gold) have a bit of fallout. The mattes can stir up quite a bit of powder within the pan itself, which I find a bit annoying.

The Packaging

In terms of packaging, I do like the velvet lilac cover, and inside, it has a nice large mirror and a usable double-ended brush. However, I’m not a fan of cardboard packaging because I feel that it cheapens the brand, especially for the price I’m paying for the palette. I mean, with brands like Urban Decay, Too Faced and Tarte Cosmetics etc. being able to come up with solid plastic/metal packaging, I don’t see why ABH couldn’t come up with something sturdier. This is just my personal preference as I know of people who love the lightweight cardboard packaging.

Makeup Look

All in all, this palette has got a nice mix of shades, textures and cool/warm hues which is suitable for most skin tones. It has its down-sides but I still reach out a lot for this palette, be it for glamorous looks or even just for simple, everyday makeup.
