The perfect strobe with BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette: Review, Swatches & Makeup Look

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne

One of the latest makeup trend brings you perfectly sculpted and highlighted cheekbones. It’s all about detailed contouring besides just adding a flush of colour to your cheeks! And of course, not to forget, strobing! If contouring is too difficult, let’s just focus on strobing, basically, the act of bringing light to the high points on the face. The best palette for your experiment is none other than the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette!

And what do you know? It’s now BACK IN STOCK on Sephora Online only!

A collaboration with Jaclyn Hill, an American Professional Makeup Artist and a YouTube personality, this limited edition face palette features five iconic shades for that customised glow you want. The palette comes in a luxurious golden metal case with a white thick sticker plastered on the cover. I really love the simplicity of the design for it embodies the meaning of the palette – champagne glow.

Once opened, you’ll be greeted with a huge usable mirror as well as a plastic sheet that protects the pigments from leaving powders all over the mirror. There are two Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighters, two shades of Mineral Blushes and a Luminous Blush. They are free from parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

The shades are:

  • Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop – metallic light champagne
  • Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Prosecco Pop – metallic light yellow gold
  • Mineral Blush in Amaretto – matte warm orange brown
  • Mineral Blush in Pamplemousse – matte warm pink coral
  • Luminous Blush in Rosé Spritz – metallic rose gold

The powders are super pigmented but blend really easily without giving you nasty streaks. With highly pigmented powders, a little goes a long way, so blending and layering are key when you work with them. I find that overall, the palette leans towards warmer tones, especially Amaretto and Pamplemousse. Although Amaretto looks like a bronzer for medium skin like me, it might work well as a blush for lighter skin tones if you blend just enough on the cheeks.

As for the metallic shades, other than being able to work as highlighters, they are pigmented enough to work as eyeshadows too! I love having a bright base to work with so they are perfect as base shades for brightening, and also in the inner corners of the eyes.

Here’s my humble attempt at contouring and strobing with this palette. I couldn’t really capture the sheen through the camera but really, they give a very nice highlighting effect when the light falls on the high points of the cheekbones.

So far, I have been reaching out to this palette before I hit any important parties or occasions because it really gives you the kind of glow you want! Just apply and blend~
