Brand new sparkling hairdo with The Scene @ Raffles City: Review

The Scene @ Raffles City
SAY WHAT?! We’re at the end of January now? Time really flies, or rather, zooms. A brand new year has just started and we are stepping in the 2nd month already! That also means Lunar New Year is coming and what better time than now to change up a hairstyle right?
I paid a visit to the spanking new hair salon run by a family of koreans – The Scene @ Raffles City – to switch up my boring old hairstyle and what do you know? I have a head of red-violet tresses now that I love!

The Scene @ Raffles City is located in one of the prime locations in Singapore so it’s easily accessible, especially for working adults who work around town area. What’s unique about the hair salon is that their hairstylists are highly qualified Korean professionals who have been trained and have gained reputable styling experiences in Korea! I had a great time with the lovely people at The Scene and let me bring you through my hairstyling journey, shall I?
I wanted something stronger than my usual hair colours yet wearable for work so amidst the wide range of colours, I went with red-violet via the Balayage technique. Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint, so the technique allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair colour with softer, less noticeable regrowth lines. The principal idea is to create a natural-looking ombre effect.
My hairstylist for the day is none other than Roy, the talented hair designer born in Busan and trained in Seoul, the fashion capital. It was my first time getting highlights but I was 101% confident of what Roy had to offer with his impressive portfolio:
  • Hair Dresser License (2005)
  • Ikeda Tetsuki Salon Cut Diploma at Khiara Hair in Japan (2012)
  • Zone and Section MUST course Diploma in Korea (2013)
  • Hair Director, Education trainer at Lee Chul Hair Ker Ker in Korea (2014)
  • Askada Designe Korea view point Diploma in Korea (2015)
  • Ashdo Lee Trend Cut Diploma in Korea (2015)
So the bleaching began shortly after and can you see the parts covered in bleach working towards the ombre effect?
Tadahhhh!~ This was how my tresses looked like after the bleaching process. I actually thought it looked good and was contemplating to stop right here, hahaha. Well of course I didn’t though I was getting very fidgety already. You know me, I can’t sit still for hours!
So… after what seemed like a good 4.5 hours, THE COLOUR FINALLY CAME OUT! ๐Ÿ˜€ It was much more muted than I wanted it to be but according to Roy, he made it less outstanding so that the hair ends after washing for a week would turn out brighter. And of course, I was half thankful that I didn’t have crazy purple hair because I would still need to say “Hi” to my boss at work.
I am really loving how the ends turned out! I wanted it to be peachy pink as expressed to Roy and I guess he chose a reddish shade overall so that my hair would turn out to be prettier than it is now!
Throughout the hair service, I felt that The Scene was like a place to relax and enjoy, especially with Jack, as he was creating conversations with me, trying to get to know me better! I must say that the service is impressive. It’s a place where you can put your mind at ease while you communicate with your stylist on your concerns and demands, and feels somewhat cozy too even though it’s located in a big mall like Raffles City Shopping Centre.

Thank you Jack, Roy and team for bringing me a brand new hairstyle! Perhaps the next time I’ll be back for a perm? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m missing the curls on my hair now…
