A beauty junkie can never leave out base makeup especially when he/she is heading out of the house, even to run errands. For me, I have oily combination skin, very acne-prone as well, which makes it hard for me to find a foundation that suits me. Most of the foundations I tried in the market do not last on my skin but thankfully after years of experimenting, testing and trying, I managed to shortlist my top 5 favourites!
Price is never an issue for me because it’s all about finding the best foundation for my skin type. Interestingly, my five choices here range from the luxurious to the pocket-friendly ones.
China’s most esteemed haute couturier, Guo Pei, brings her legendary elegance to a colour collection inspired by her “garden of the soul”, merging vibrant jewel tones with rich neutrals, punctuated by deep graphite.
Featured are eyeshadow quads in deep blues and honeyed neutrals; lipsticks and cremesheen lip glasses in creamy pinks and corals to bright reds and luscious nudes. Make your eyes look even more exquisite with three stunning shades of fluidlines, while the beauty powder provides the final touch. Not to forget two makeup brushes – an eyeshadow and a blush brush – all in the signature floral design. I mean, how gorgeous are the floral drawings?!
August was a month of transition for me as I bade goodbye to my beloved colleagues in my workplace. I’m pretty much the only person left now with all an entirely new team. It was sad but I guess, a new environment sometimes tests your ability to adapt, isn’t it?
Anyway, with all the love that’s showered to me from the different beauty brands (I am truly grateful, thank you), I have discovered some makeup and skincare products that I’m especially drawn to this month! Let’s dig into my August 2015 Beauty Favourites, shall we? 😉
My love for M∙A∙C comes in the form of lipsticks. I am a huge lover for M∙A∙C’s limited edition collections, those with unique packaging. With my undying love for makeup, I told myself to pick up only one lipstick (and a blush or an eyeshadow palette) per limited edition launch so that I could keep them but couture fashion designer, Giambattista Valli, collaborated with M∙A∙C and came up with a brilliant collection of timeless lipsticks.
Lo and behold. The M∙A∙C x GiAMBATTiSTA VALLI lipsticks.
Giambattista Valli (read his short interview here
) brings forth his effortless elegance and celebration of the female form in this exquisite collection. There are five lipsticks in this collection and they are all matte. In the coral of Tats, pale pink of Bianca B, pure peach of Margherita, regal red of Charlotte and dark cherry of Eugenie, lips take on an air of sophistication.
(Bianca B is sooo pretty on the model!)
April to me has a rather significant meaning. It was the month of transition for me, from a graduate to a full-time working adult. It feels surreal that I have now entered the workforce, joining every adult in their morning rush and their 9-5 (technically 9-6) schedule. As such, I haven’t had much time to play with all my new toys (makeup) sitting on the vanity shelf. It has just been grabbing a few new products and sticking to them for a good week or two.
Thus, April’s Beauty Favourites is all about convenient and basic needs, comprising of a few makeup and skincare essentials.
