What better way to welcome Spring than with the Chantecaille Spring 2020 Makeup Collection? Whenever Chantecaille comes up with a makeup collection, I get every excited. I get overly eager not just because of the products but also the brand’s conservation initiatives. How many beauty brands in the market actively give back to the community and the environment on a daily basis? Well, we don’t know but one thing’s for sure: each and every of Chantecaille’s Limited Edition collection (and the Lip Veil collection) supports some animal/plant conservation efforts.
For Spring 2020, we zoom in to the hummingbird’s natural rainforest habitat. We look into giving back to the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) as they work to preserve these birds’ habitats and homes.
About Amazon Conservation Team (ACT)
The Amazon forest, as we know, is home to over a quarter of the world’s flora and fauna. I believe the forest also helps to significantly regulate our global climate, which is why protecting it is vital. The ACT, who works with indigenous and local communities across the region, helps protect these tropical forests. For this Hummingbird Spring 2020 Collection, Chantecaille will directly support one of ACT’s projects in the Andes Amazon in Colombia. This would be done through a donation from its sales of the Lip Chic lipstick which I’m going to talk about below.

The Lip Chic
Creative Director Olivia Chantecaille says Spring is all about staying away from the matte lip look. We’re going bold and fresh with bright glossy lips with 4 shades from the Lip Chic range:
- Lupine (Blue) – Soft cool pink
- Coral Bell (Pink) – Coral pink
- Passion Flower (Orange) – Sheer bright orange
- Honeysuckle (Green) – Dusty rose
Each Lip Chic is named after a flower that hummingbirds are attracted to and pollinate. Moreover, the packaging and actual lip shades also reflect the vibrant colours of the Amazon. As with all Chantecaille’s lipsticks, the Lip Chic is packaged in its signature magnetic case, each emblazoned with a hummingbird.
The texture is a hybrid of a gloss and lipstick so expect decent colour payoff with high shine! I love all 4 shades because they are apt for this playful season. Additionally, the rich, moisturising texture makes my lips soft and kissable too 😉 Of course, don’t expect this lipstick to last forever like matte ones do. Nothing lasts forever anyway…
The next few powdered products have got a hummingbird on each of them, how cute! However, while the packaging looks really pretty, I didn’t like the fact that the covers are printed squarish stickers with a slightly sticky feel. They tend to stick to each other/catch on things.
The Hummingbird Eye Quartets
Inspired by how a hummingbird flap its colourful wings, the Hummingbird Eye Quartets feature rich shimmering eye shades. There are 2 collectible compacts in this collection:
- Warm (Green) – Glimmering peach (highlight), Matte neutral brown (base), Cool shimmering slate (liner), Chromatic gold with iridescent pink pearl (all-over lid)
- Cool (Blue) – Glowing pink pearl (highlight), Soft taupe (base), Shimmering deep plum (liner), Sparkling rose gold (Lid duo chrome)
Each quartet is packaged in a metallic compact case featuring an adorable hummingbird illustration. The shades are decent in terms of pigmentation and are made to help you achieve a sophisticated look for Spring.

The Perfect Blur Finishing Powder
Housed in a similar packaging as the eye quartets, the Perfect Blur Finishing Powder is a must-have!
This ultimate soft-focus blurring powder is weightless and appears invisible on the skin. With innovative optically correcting pearls and blurring spheres, the powder filters out imperfections for a flawless look. The texture of this powder is rather interesting. It’s a gel-powder that’s very soft and glides onto the skin to provide a translucent radiance.
