Curl it up with Etude House’s Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara: Review

You know what’s the one thing I dislike about being an asian? It’s stick straight eye lashes that can never hold its curls! If you are a girl who loves to doll herself up like me, I’m pretty sure you’ll always complete your eye makeup look with a mascara, right? 😉 I’ve never tried Etude House’s mascaras before but this particular one, the Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara (S$24.90) wowed me with its formula!
My Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara came in a box titled “Open Your Eyes”, with products dedicated to give you that wide-eyed doll-like look! I was honestly more interested to try out the mascara especially since it features the lauded ETUDE Curl 24HR Technology™, where the Perfect Lash Fixer puts in place curves that promise to last up to 24 hours!
With coloured mascaras in trend, the Curl Fix has got four colours in its offering:
  • #1 – Black
  • #2 – Brown (Limited Edition)
  • #3 – Plum Burgundy (Limited Edition)
  • #4 – Pink (Limited Edition)
The key to the wonders of the mascara besides the formula, is its innovative jelly brush. Nope, it’s not the usual brush wand you are expecting. Instead, the mascara wand is made with a unique jelly material specially designed for Asian eyes.
Can you spot the jelly dome + flat jelly on the wand? It is made of ultra fine 0.2mm bristles to ensure that every lash will get perfect coating. However, I feel that the special arch within the brush picks up a tad too much amount of formula for a single stroke though in order to volumise your lashes. You can feel the lashes being wetly coated so be sure to let it sit and dry for a while before you start blinking!
The brush measures at 18mm in length which makes volumising and curling your lashes effortless. What’s more, the ultra-fine bristles have been carefully positioned to ensure that no lashes, long or short, will be left out.
The mascara has a quite a lot of claims so this review is to tackle every single one of them:

  1. Curves that promise to last up to 24 hours
  2. With a density lighter than water, the mascara formula is so lightweight that it doesn’t weigh your delicate lashes down
  3. With just one application, it’s resistance to water, sweat and sebum
  4. Can be easily removed with your everyday mascara remover
Claim #1 – Proven
You can notice that even though my lashes are stick straight, it managed to curl it up a little such that my lashes are visible when I open my eyes! No prior curling was done when I was experimenting with it.

Claim #2 – Partially Dismissed

Even though the formula’s density is lighter than water, I still felt that my lashes are weighed down. I could feel the weight on my lashes especially about 2-3 coats of the mascara. Not that it bothered me but is it definitely not as lightweight as claimed.

Claim #3 – Proven
It is true, that the formula is resistance to water, sweat and sebum! No smudges appeared around my eye area and it definitely did not wear off!

Claim #4 – Unsure
I must say that although the mascara is really powerful, it is very hard to remove, even with a oil-based makeup remover. You really need to soak a whole cotton pad and place it around the lashes for the mascara to dissolve. I haven’t really heard of a mascara remover so I’m not too sure how easily it will remove the mascara.

With the 2 strongest claims being proven, I say, GET IT!

I’m so going to check out the other two shades – Burgundy and Pink because I like to wear fun, coloured mascaras for my lower lashes once in a while!

The ETUDE HOUSE Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara #1 Black will be available at all ETUDE HOUSE Singapore stores from September 2015 onwards while the limited edition shades #2 Brown, #3 Plum Burgundy and #4 Pink will be available exclusively at ETUDE HOUSE Wisma Atria from September 2015.

Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
