The ombré trend that we first fell in love with started with our hair – let’s just say women paid lots of money to achieve those brown gradient tresses or even crazier, the mermaid pastel gradation. These days, ombré is no longer about the hair. It is now all about the lips due to the ever-popular Korean beauty trend!
Taking inspiration from the K-Beauty trend, LANEIGE has launched its own version of a lipstick that promises you ombré lips in just a single application! Presenting you the artistic LANEIGE Two Tone Lip Bar!
The Two Tone Lip Bars come in 10 juicy shades ranging from the nudes to sweet pastel shades, red-carpet-worthy reds and even my favourite berry tones! With all these shades, you are definitely spoilt for choice.
The lip bars are rectangular in shape, designed to accurately outline your lips without you missing any corner on the lips or having to clean off any mess. This stylish and edgy design also helps you to express the fashionable lip makeup trend without you making too much effort. Just slide the button on the side to push up your lipstick and you are ready to apply and conquer the world 😉
You must be wondering by now, why are the lipsticks designed in such a way that there is a diagonal cut in the middle? The intent of the diagonal cut is to create a natural gradation by blurring colour boundaries while you swipe the product across your lips. I’ve tried it and it really works! With this, you don’t have to blend that much. Just press your lips against each other (as you would when you go “Mmmmm”) and you’re done!
Moreover, these lipsticks are highly pigmented and comes with intense moisturising properties to ensure that you get your juicy, gradient lips. Personally for me, the more vibrant shades (the ones with bright reds/burgundy) tend to last longer and are a tad more hydrating. I have tried 5/10 shades from this range and my favourites are No.5 Daring Darling, a striking chilli red accompanied by a hot pink, as well as No. 9 Dolly Grape, a pale pink paired with a deep purple berry, one that I briefly tried during the launch event I attended earlier.
Here are swatches of all 10 shades! It seems to me that if you are a gradient lips lover, you need to get at least half of them to own some very complementary combinations.
This is how the 10 shades translate on the lips from LANEIGE’s website:
I personally don’t have well-hydrated lips to begin with, so even though the lipsticks are moisturising, they tend to take a while to settle on my lips. This is how the lip bars apply on my lips, probably a more realistic capture of how the lipsticks would look like on darker, and drier lips.
I really do like these because I find that they are much easier than using 2 lipsticks! You can save the trouble of cleaning your individual lipsticks due to colour transfer if you had used them to create these ombré lip looks. Also, save 1 lipstick space in your makeup pouch if you are the kind of girl like me who brings along her lipsticks for touch-ups!
The LANEIGE Two Tone Lip Bars are available at $34 each in all LANEIGE stores/counters.
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
