It’s playtime with Etude House’s Play 101 Pencils: Review, Swatches & Makeup Look

Etude House's Play 101 Pencils
Hello ladies, it’s time to stop fretting about what bag to bring along just to contain those makeup products for your on-the-go touch-ups! With Etude House Play 101 Pencils, you’ll only need to worry about your fashion wardrobe!
There are 10 NEW shades in this line for you to play with, and I’m going to be talking about the 7 I have with me, followed by a makeup look with all seven! If you haven’t known, these pencils can be used for the eyes, the lips, and even the cheeks! You don’t need to look anywhere else for makeup on the go!
The Etude House Play 101 Pencils comes in 50 various colors and textures and now a new set of 10, for all your colour needs! They are creamy, rich and pigmented, thus do not require much layering. The pencils include 5 various textures:
  • Creamy – soft drawing texture with rich colour payoff
  • Shimmer – delicate glitter colour to amp up your eye makeup
  • Glitter – glitter texture for dramatic and fancy makeup
  • Glossy – moist texture with shine; recommend to use as blusher and lipstick
  • Matte – soft but powdery finish; recommend to use on eyebrows, as eyeshadows etc.
My experience of most of the Play 101 pencils are that they are rather long-lasting and are waterproof too. Mostly made of highly functional waterproof polymer, the Play 101 pencils are developed for for long-lasting makeup application!
Here are the 10 NEW shades, swatched, c/o Jerlene:
  • #61 – glitter pale yellow gold
  • #62 – shimmer rose gold
  • #63 – shimmer bronze
  • #64 – shimmer teal-blue
  • #65 – glitter sea blue
  • #66 – matte deep royal blue
  • #67 – glossy soft pink
  • #68 – creamy hot pink
  • #69 – creamy vibrant orange
  • #70 – shimmer chocolate brown with gold micro glitter
I simply love the idea of having multi-function makeup pencils! Imagine having to just bring a small clutch when you head out because all you ever need for your touch-ups are these sleek pencils! They are easily blendable too but I recommend an eye primer for oily lids as the pigment tends to smudge when the lids get oily during the day.
Using #61, #62, #63, #65 and #70, I’ve created a simple everyday eye makeup look with a pop of blue on the lower lash line to make your eyes look more awake, at the same time giving them a modern fashionable touch.
Pardon my acne, I’ve used #69 on the cheeks as well for a flush of healthy orange glow! It’s so easy to blend you can just use your fingers!
As I’ve mentioned, you can use the creamy/glossy ones for the lips and here I have this super long-lasting shade #68 on the lips. A nice hot pink is always good to perk you up! I have to commend this shade for its longevity. I could eat a salad, drink some Starbucks for lunch and no touch-up was needed at all! The colour stayed on my lips for a good 5-6 hours before needing to reapply again.
So, here’s the final look! What do you think? 😉
The Etude House Play 101 Pencils retail for $12 each and are available in all Etude House Singapore outlets.
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
