For a while now, Korean makeup is in trend in all parts of the world, especially Southeast Asia. More and more people, including myself, are starting to explore the dynamic world of K-makeup brands! However, I believe not all Korean makeup brands are readily available in our countries which makes it hard to obtain the latest lipstick probably Han Ga-In or Park Shin Hye is wearing.
Not to worry, it’s good news for all you ladies residing in SEA! Althea Korea, founded since June 2015, brings you K-beauty all the way from Koreaaaa!~ Let’s dig into my Althea Beauty Haul, shall we?
I’ve managed to get a variety of products from brands I have never really tried before. I was so excited to test them all out!
So all you have to to is to login to http://sg.althea.kr and you’ll see a some featured products and promotions on their website banners.
If you are not sure where to start, try looking into the “Trendy Items” section for starters. They have got lots of IN products that are lower than the retail prices you are going to get from counters and stores.
Just for the month of October, I managed to snag some items from the Pink Collection, where 5% of proceeds goes to charity. If you can shop and do some good, why not?
As with all other online shops, add your desired items to your cart and simply check out! There is free International Shipping with orders over SGD50 and if you are worried about the authenticity of the products, fret not! Everything on Althea Korea is authentic as they work with the suppliers directly. If you are unhappy, there’s a 30-day unconditional return policy.
When you first sign up, you’ll be able to instantly get a SGD10 credit so, that’s extra money for you to spend! You could probably get a free makeup item with that given that the products are slightly lower priced than on retail.
So, just check out when you are done and you’re ready to wait for your parcel to arrive!
Greedy me wanted to try a bit of everything so I picked out makeup that I can use for the entire face but not for the base. I’ve picked out eyeshadows, blusher, lip balm, lip tint and some eyeliners to show you how they fare when all being used together! Keep reading if you want to see my makeup look!
If you think you’re going to wait for ages before your parcel arrives, then you’ll be surprised to find out that it arrived in a week for me! It didn’t take long for this little pink box to arrive at my doorstep and I was thrilled because unboxing a parcel full of makeup is always fun!
The products were all nicely wrapped in bubble wrap so no damages were incurred from shipping. Plus, the box is made of sturdy cardboard, you don’t have to worry about any damages too. See! Isn’t this just happy mail?! 😀 There were a few samples being thrown in too!
I basically got a bit of everything as mentioned, including the Etude House Color My Brows eyebrow mascara in Rich Brown. It was a pretty decent eyebrow mascara, it serves its purpose of tinting the brows and keeping them in place throughout the entire day which is convenient for those who doesn’t like any touch-ups.
I love me some eyeshadows for they are my weakness when it comes to makeup. I saw this interesting product, the Holika Holika Aqua Petit Jelly Ice Cooling Shadow, which is basically a liquid eyeshadow that feels cooling on the skin. I got the shade in Mai Tai, a nice orange with gold micro glitters that is great for everyday use. I didn’t get to feel any cooling sensation on the skin though but it sure is easy to blend and work on the eyelids. Definitely could do better with an eyelid primer.
To continue with the eyes, I’ve used the dark plum shade in the Missha Triple Shadow in 01 Browny Pink as contour to give definition. It wasn’t of fantastic pigmentation but I guess with the three shades in there, it’s good enough to give you a wearable eye makeup look.
I feel that no K-makeup is complete without the use of a tear liner! Having heard many good things about Holika Holika, I got the Holika Holika Jewel Light Waterproof Tear Liner in #No.8 Pink Topaz, a peachy shimmery shade for brightening up the lower lash line. It gives you a little of the aegyo-sal effect which is super in trend now.
Also from Holika Holika, I’ve managed to also snag the Jewel Light Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Purple Amethyst, instead of the usual black, just to spice up a boring eye makeup look. On camera it looked brown but it is a subtle burgundy-purple with silver micro glitter. I feel that the shade is perfect for parties. It lasted me throughout the entire day over an eyelid primer which is impressive.
As for the cheeks, I found a very practical blusher stick which has a cream blusher in the form of a stick on one end, and a buffing brush on the other! The Missha Soft Blending Stick Blusher is such a genius invention for women on the go! I’ve picked the colour in 03 Skin Coral so that it gives a nice flush to the skin.
To finish off the makeup look, I’ve picked a lip balm and one out of two lipsticks I’ve hauled. The Banila Co. The Kissest Plumping Tinted Stick is one of the most minty lip balm I’ve ever tried. Perhaps because it’s meant to make your lips look plumper, it has got that tingly minty sensation right after you put it on. The shade on me is 01 LOVE.
For the Korean ombre lip look, I’ve picked the Peri Pera Peri’s Tint Crayon in 05 Red Pink, a vibrant reddish coral shade just to emphasis on the inner part of the lips for a “sucked-on-a-cherry-lollipop” look.
So… here’s the final look! It’s a classy wearable K-makeup look I’ve created with all my beauty buys from Althea! What do you think of it? 😉
Overall, I am very pleased with the products! They are priced much lower for some products and the parcel took only a week to reach me. Isn’t that efficient? I’m definitely going to be shopping more from the site once that paycheck comes in 😉
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
