I’ve never written a review on a male scent before but this particular one made me want to start my first post for male colognes! I am very particular about scents, especially for masculine scents because I want my man to be wearing something I don’t mind sniffing (for the entire day if I’m out with him). When I was invited to try out the latest fragrance launch from Givenchy, Gentlemen Only Casual Chic Cologne, I gave it a whiff and knew this is a winner.

Gentlemen Only Casual Chic fragrance is a celebration of a gentlemen’s natural elgance. After capturing the modern gentleman’s elegance in a sensual and unsettling intense version in 2014, the time has come for elegant casualness, suffused with lightness and utter seduction, with this lighter scent.

Much as how the original EDP version displays a man’s elegance in a suit, this EDT depicts the true gentleman revealing himself in those moments where formal attire no longer serves a purpose, where authentic style, natural ease and a casual spirit reclaim their rightful places. By a sports ground, behind the wheel of a gorgeous convertible, back from a day on the slopes – these are the moments when genuine charm is revealed; when authenticity leads to seduction.

While remaining true to the original accords of Gentlemen Only (sandalwood, cedar wood and birch leaf), this new EDT nevertheless asserts its own energetic and refreshing personality. Through a bewildering blend of spices – cardamom, ginger and juniper – this wood spicy fresh fragrance successfully combines vigour and character, much like what an active, sporty and charming gentlemen would wear. The chic, casual man will find in it the charm of easygoing elegance that fits him like a second skin.

I personally prefer this new EDT for it has a lighter and more refreshing scent that charms me like no other. The original EDP definitely has a stronger and deeper scent, much like what a gentlemen in tuxedo would carry as compared to the EDT counterpart.

In terms of design, the EDT possesses a timeless design, marrying transparency and vitality. Gentlemen Only Casual Chic comes in a timeless and masculine English-style flask already used by the range. Notice the pop of orange? The EDT comes with a cheerful and energising orange spray-tube, housed in a delicate blue, almost lavender glass flask. The bluish reflections of the EDT call to mind the delicate colours of daybreak, exuding freshness on a summer day. One can easily imagine the gentlemen slipping it into a gym bag or the inside pocket of a classic duffel bag before heading out for a weekend getaway. Well, I can imagine seeing my boyfriend slip this into his gym bag before heading for a workout session.

The Gentlemen Only Casual Chic is, in my opinion, a thoughtful gift for the gentlemen in your life. Be it your boyfriend, father or friend, this EDT makes for a great present to indulge the man you want to pamper.
