The long-awaited Gigi Hadid x Maybelline makeup collection has finally launched! Well, not fully, but some of it has reached our shores! The collection reveals the story of Hadid’s life as she sees it, one shade at a time from her home base in New York City to her hometown in Los Angeles. Go from City Chic to Cali Vibes with the cool-toned and warm shades!

I’m not going to follow the City Chic nor the Cali Vibes look, but instead, I’m mixing it up according to mood 😉 Oh, and read till the end for a giveaway!

Gigi Hadid BB Cushion

Start painting your face for a smooth and perfect canvas with the Gigi Hadid BB Cushion. It comes in two shade only, unfortunately, in Fair and Natural. I’m a MAC NC20-25 so Natural is my shade. This is the first liquid BB Cushion the brand has launched, with more than 60% hydrating essence! Even though it gives like a dewy radiance finish, I find that this doesn’t look overly dewy on the skin.

I like that this gives a relatively high coverage and evens out my skin tone really well. I do still need to touch up during midday though because my skin tends to oil up a lot in this tropical climate. The BB Cushion has some SPF 29 PA+++.

Liquid Strobe in Gold

As Gigi Hadid says, “Live your true full glow!” The Liquid Strobe in Gold is your ultimate tool for a sun-kissed glow. Swipe it on the bridge of your nose, the high points of your cheeks and even on your eyes for an immediate illuminating effect. The Liquid Strobe comes in another shade, Iridescent, to give you a nice trendy unicorn glow.

Fashion Brow Ultra Fluffy

Starting with the brows first for the eye makeup, I used the Fashion Brow Ultra Fluffy brow pencil in Brown. Gigi Hadid is always sporting a naturally defined, full-bodied but slightly fluffy brows so she created this for all to achieve that kind of brow look. I personally like this brow pencil because it allows me to fill in my brows effortlessly in the shortest time possible with its larger surface area on the tip.

Eye Contour Palette

Eyeshadows are my weaknesses so when these eye palettes came in the mail, I was so excited! And yes, I will be giving away the Eye Contour Palette in Cool and Mini Palette Eyeshadow in Cool!

So yes, if you want to get Gigi’s iconic makeup look, you need to have this Eye Contour Palette! There are two variations – warm & cool – but I have only one with me, the cool one. It’s a palette that lets you achieve a very natural eye-contoured makeup look for you to deepen and widen the appearance of your eyes.

As Gigi puts it, “I wanted to make a collection that everyone can have and everyone can use.” Thus, this is perfect for those who just needs a bit of a contour on the eyes for definition.

For a drugstore product, the pigmentation is not bad but I still find them really powdery on the lids. If you’re lazy and want to skip eye primer, I wouldn’t suggest you do that. This still requires an eye primer so that the colours will adhere nicely to the lids.

Mini Palette Eyeshadow

To further enhance your eyelids, you cannot miss the Mini Palette Eyeshadow. It comes with six shades in different textures – matte to satin metallic – two variations, warm & cool as well. The mattes are really powdery but the shimmery shades are pretty decent in terms of pigmentation. For an eyeshadow beginner, you’ll probably love this cute little palette because it’s easy to work with.

What I really love about both eye palettes are that they are so tiny and handy! You can easily put them into your makeup bag or clutch without having the worry of them not being able to fit in.

Gel Eyeliners

To complete my eye look, I used the Gel Eyeliner in Black and the Fiber Mascara in Black. Get Gigi’s gorgeous eye look with this duo! The gel eyeliner is said to be waterproof and smudge-resistant but because of my oily lids, it smudges a little to my lower lash line by the end of day. I do like that it’s very black and pigmented though.

Gigi Hadid Fiber Mascara

On the other hand, the fiber mascara is quite an interesting one because it has white fluffy fibers on one end, and the actual mascara on the other side. You can sweep the mascara first, then a layer of the fibers before one more coat of the mascara for extra volume and length.

Gigi Hadid Matte Lipsticks

At last, my favourite from the entire collection – Gigi Hadid Matte Lipsticks. Matte lipsticks are my staple now and I’m always on a lookout for good creamy pigmentation. These are perfect with its statement-making colours and creamy textures! Get Gigi’s West Coast Glam with Austyn, Lani and Khair – three very gorgeous reds.

• Austyn – strawberry red
• Lani – bright orange red
• Khair – dusty rose red

Overall, I think the makeup collection is very decent in terms of pigmentation and quality. I love how the entire collection’s products are dressed in this matte feminine nude colour. It’s really chic!
