How time flies. It’s the last day of October and we’re stepping into the second last month of the year! Do you know what that means? The Christmas season is coming~ With the holiday collections launching one by one, I can’t contain my excitement for the holiday season! Ever since sneak peeks were released on Instagram some time back, the Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Edit – Surreal Light was something I had my eyes on and I’m so happy it’s added to my (ever-growing) makeup collection now!
The (Instagram) world’s going crazy over marble prints now, so kudos to Hourglass for having marble prints on the palette’s packaging. Beauty junkies all over the world should be thanking the brand now for such an Insta-worthy piece 😉 Not that I’m a huge fan of marble prints, I absolutely adore this as compared to their usual metallic ones because I don’t have my fingerprints seen all over the casing.
This limited-edition palette contains a universally-flattering powder, a bronzer, some blushes and a covetable highlighter – all for this holiday season. What makes it even better is that it’s about the size of my hand – super travel-worthy! It has a decently-sized mirror for your on-the-go touch-ups too. In case you were wondering, these are never-before-released shades. With this travel-handy palette, you get everything you need to finish, brighten, contour, and highlight skin in a single compact.
Also featuring the latest addition to the Ambient® Light family — Surreal Light — a sheer nude finishing powder created to evoke the magic hour where the sun brings the softest and most flattering glow to the complexion. Formulated with Photoluminescent Technology, the optically transparent particles refract favourable light to flatter the look of the skin. With the soft-focus technology, wrinkles and imperfections are reduced, with skin discolouration neutralised too. The result? Younger, healthy-looking skin for a lit-from-within, holiday glow.
The shades in the palette are:
- Ambient Lighting Powder in Surreal Light – sheer nude
- Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Surreal Bronze Light – neutral tan with Surreal Light
- Ambient Lighting Blush in Surreal Glow – pale peony pink with Surreal Light
- Surreal Effect – cool, pink rose with soft, warm peach
- Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Surreal Strobe Light – glimmering peach
The powders are very finely-milled and pigmented, just like the others in the Ambient Lighting family. They are easily blendable too so it’s pretty fuss-free in terms of working the pigments into the skin for that sculpted, glowy look. I especially love Surreal Strobe Light for that beautiful sheen when applied on the higher points of the cheekbones. However, Surreal Bronze Light seemed too warm for my skin tone and I would really much prefer it to be more neutral so that it can suit a range of skin tones.
Here’s using Surreal Light as a finishing powder, Surreal Bronze Light as contour/bronzing shade, Surreal Effect as a subtle blush topped with Surreal Strobe Light for the strobing effect.
In my opinion, if you’re looking for a present for your girlfriend who’s into makeup, this is THE palette to gift! Well, it’s face palette so you won’t go wrong or worry that she might not appreciate. A girl needs some contour and blush in her life, definitely!
The Hourglass Ambient® Lighting Edit – Surreal Light retails for USD80 at Sephora stores. Price and availability in Sephora Singapore will be updated in time to come.
Create yourself and be gorgeous!
