It’s another bag of indie makeup brands with Lip Monthly! It’s always a cute little surprise unzipping that handy cosmetics pouch. June 2016’s Lip Monthly brings you a naturally-sweet makeup look with nudes and pinks suitable for that everyday makeup.
This month, receive 4 full-sized products in one little green pouch with cherries on top! Yes that’s right, it’s a total of USD69.95 worth of makeup for a fraction of what you’re paying! I always found such subscription service useful because you get to discover new and fresh makeup on the market which are not mainstream, and that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to stumble upon yourself!
Without further ado, let’s get started with the first product I grabbed from the bag, the one with the cutest packaging! What do we have? It’s the Jelly Pong Pong Lip Butter in Balloons! Formulated in Italy, this adorable nude shade is inspired by Kylie Jenner’s amazing pout. The brown-spice shade is a cross between toffee and nude, with a light red base so that it will not drain your complexion.
Unfortunately for me, the shade’s too light on its own so I use it as a base for my ombre lips. Even though the packaging’s paper/cardboard, I love the cutesy balloons printed all over! With my adorable Alice nail, it looks like Alice has gone exploring 😉
Another lip product found in this month’s bag is the Measurable Difference Lip Color Stick in Chrislie, a deep red-berry shade. Nothing fancy in my opinion, just a regular lip crayon in a nice everyday shade if you’re into deep berry reds. It’s fairly moisturising too so I’d pop this in my touch-up makeup bag because it glides on easily and you can simply dab a little onto the inner lip area for that quick ombre lips effect.
Who’s a fan of lip and cheek multi-tasking products? Well, I was never a fan because I find it unhygienic to dab your lip product onto your cheeks after using them in close vicinity to your mouth area. Nevertheless, I find that the Be A Bombshell The One Stick in Sweetness is the perfect cheek colour to-go! Just rub it across the cheeks and use a brush or your handy fingers to blend, blend, blend and you’re done in seconds! It’s that quick! I like that it gives a sweet, healthy flush to the complexion. Note that it doesn’t last for more than a couple of hours long.
And the last product you’ll find pretty useful is the Peony Cosmetics Luminizing Stick in Pink Glow. I wouldn’t say this is fantastic but I like that its shape and width is ideal for that cheekbone highlight! One stroke one the cheekbones is all you need for that luminous, subtle glow. This gel-based crayon indeed delivers a soft-focus, lit-from-within colour in a flattering hybrid of pink, gold and luminescence. However, it also does not last as long, especially if you have oily lids. I also found it a little hard to see the glow on my skin, perhaps due to my darker medium skin tone. I feel that this would work best on fairer skin.
Here are the swatches for all the lovely products you can expect in June’s Lip Monthly. The shades complement each other and the best thing is that you can really bring all 4 products in your little green bag out for a time-to-time touch-up!
My makeup look using all 4 products, with Sweetness on the cheeks, blended; Pink Glow on the cheekbones (but I bet you can’t see); Balloons Lip Butter all over the lips and Chrislie on the inner lip areas for that slight ombre effect. I’m quite loving this soft, sweet look that brings femininity to my features!
