Pink is a universally flattering shade for not just your lips, but also your eyes. The colour pink is the colour of universal love of oneself and of others. It signifies love, playfulness, sweetness and simply, femininity. It’s easy to find the perfect pink lipstick but I must say that it’s not as simple to find the right balance of pinks to dress your eyes without looking like you’ve been bruised in the eyes.
To celebrate the sweet blush shade, Make Up Store came up with a limited edition palette that brings you elegance and femininity, the 12 Shades of Pink. Want to see how I get this romantic, flirty look? Read on for swatches and a step-by-step pictorial!
The Packaging
Housed in a pink metallic case, the 12 Shades of Pink palette contains literally 12 variations of pink from the very pale champagnes to the super intense burgundy shades. The eyeshadows themselves, are pressed with a beautiful crocodile skin/skin cells pattern that essentially represents what the brand stands for.
The Formula
Grouped in shades of three, each segment contains a light, medium and a darker shade enough for a manageable eye makeup look. Put together, these shades can take you from day to night in the blink of an eye. 😉 Smooth, creamy and pigmented, the formula is super blendable without being powdery. What I like about the formula is that it’s really easy to work with and I can really pair the shades together to create multiple eye looks, even a smoky one.
The Shades
The shades do not have names (I wish they did though) so here’s my take on a creative swatch art to show you all the shades in this palette. Since it’s called the 12 Shades of Pink, I would really love it if they had put in some matte hot pink shades to amp it up, and perhaps an iridescent lilac-pink as well because it would be a nice to have something that really pops. As you can see in the swatch, there were a few champagne shades in different finishes – matte, satin and metallic, so it’ll be even better with more variations of pinks.
With the shades from left to right, number them 1-12 in your mind, with the first shade on the top left being 1, and the first shade on the bottom left as 7. I’ll be referencing them to the eye look I did with this palette below.
The Makeup Look
I first placed the 9th shade, a brown-burgundy onto the crease of the eyelid. Then, I swept the 7th shade, a pale champagne pink all over the lid. Added a pop of colour with the most eye-catching shade, #11 – a warm plum-red – onto the outer corner. Intensify it further with shade #6, a toasty chocolate brown, before patting on more shade #7 onto the centre of the lids. Line the lower lash line with shade #9 and shade #10, with #10 placed on the inner corner of the eye. Line eye with a dark black eyeliner, apply mascara and you’re good to go!
Here’s the final look! I paired with the Too Faced Melted Latex Liquified High Shine Lipstick in Love You Long Time. This bright cool-toned pink really complements the eye makeup, doesn’t it?
I’ve never really played with feminine looks. However, this palette sure does make me want to don on pink eyeshadows all the time! What do you say?
