Flower-based skincare, who’s in? I’m definitely in! With the launch of floral-based Korean beauty brand, Mamonde, we’re once again spoilt for choice when it comes to Korean skincare.

About Mamonde

As you might have figured out by now, Mamonde, prides itself to nurture and enhance your natural beauty through the invigorating properties of flowers. The brand even has a real flower garden in Osan, located at the south of Seoul, where the key blooms like hibiscus, camellia, magnolia, honeysuckle and lotus are carefully-cultivated under expert botanists.

I’ve always been a believer of having flowers in skincare products, especially rose, because these beautiful works of nature actually provide nourishment and healing to our skin. In this post, I will share with you some of the skincare products I’ve been trying from Mamonde and hopefully you’ll find them useful for your skin too!

These products aren’t any of the super-hyped-up cult favourites and are probably less popular but I really find them gentle yet effective on my acne-prone combination skin.

Lotus Micro Cleansing Foam

I’ve always been careful when using cleansing foams because they tend to be super drying, leaving the squeaky-clean feeling on your skin, which is also why I tend to go for gel cleansers. However, I’m pleasantly surprised by the Mamonde Lotus Micro Cleansing Foam for its powerful cleansing properties that’s gentle and effective.

This moisturising brightening cleansing foam is said to “perfectly cleanse ultra-fine dust (like PM2.5!), while maintaining a natural moisturising factor for healthy, bright skin”. It has a faint floral scent which makes cleansing enjoyable and relaxing, and cleanses really well, giving a nice velvety after-feel. Honestly, I won’t be able to tell if the cleanser does wash away PM2.5 particles from my skin but it makes me feel even better using it, teehee!

Following the cleansing foam, I’ve used the Mamonde AC range of products, mainly the AC Balance Toner and AC Balance Spot Serum to combat excess sebum. As my skin starts to age, I find that even though I get less outbreaks (probably due to the drop in activity of my oil glands), my skin is still susceptible to oiling up during midday. I always tell my mum that I can fry an egg on my face LOL.

AC Balance Toner

Anyway, yes, the AC Balance Toner helps me to balance out my skin’s PH while controlling the excess sebum. It contains salicylic acid extracted from wintergreen (an aromatic plant that helps tone the skin and prevent acne) that gently and effectively removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores. Mint leaf extract contained also helps to calm and soothe the skin.

I like that the toner is watery yet absorbs quite quickly on the skin. It makes me feel that my skin is extra clean after I go through the toner with a cotton pad. It helps to also remove any impurities, giving you thoroughly cleansed skin for your skincare to work its magic. However, this toner does contain alcohol so if you have allergic skin then I suggest that you test this out first.

AC Balance Spot Serum

If you have a super active sebaceous gland like me, you probably don’t want to miss the AC Balance Spot Serum, a soothing spot serum for sebum control. With Mamonde’s BHA clear system and salicyclic acid (derived from wintergreen), this spot serum helps to zap your zits and get your skin back on track after a couple of days.

You know how acne creams tend to dry out the acne but result in dry, flaky skin? Fret not with this spot serum! It actually soothes my skin while combating the pesky zits. Apparently it also contains Western rose extract which injects intense moisture and a calming effect! I also like the clear glass-like dispense tip because I can actually see the product being dispensed.

Overall, they cleansing foam, toner and spot serum worked hand-in-hand to help me achieve a more ideal skin complexion. I’ve never really relied on Korean skincare that much but I must say that these worked really well for me.
