May 2015 Beauty Favourites: Review

May 2015 Beauty Favourites
Another month has passed in a blink of an eye I must say. Integrating into work life and juggling between work, personal time, blogging and relationships with people is in fact, not as easy as I thought it would be. Pardon me for my lack of updates including makeup pictorials! I am really trying to schedule them, possibly 2-3 every month so stay with me alright? 😉
So May has been a month of crazy ups and downs. Dealing with people relations was draining me inside out so in terms of my makeup/skincare favourites this month, it was all about the right staples. Well, just to simplify a small aspect of my life, yes?
My skin’s breaking out recently perhaps due to the stresses in my life right now. The remedy for my dull, tired skin is nothing fanciful – The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser. I really LOVE the texture of this because it’s thick yet in a gel texture that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It has an invigorating citrus fragrance that makes me awake and happy in the mornings! Read my full review here.
For base makeup, I found 2 new babies that will definitely be staying in my essentials/holy grail pile for a while because they are SO GOOD. The Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer was one I had been meaning to grab since they launched it. I’m more than glad I did because it works as well as the NARS one. I love the “weightless” texture, they definitely did it right and even though for me it only performs medium-high coverage, I still love how it doesn’t cake throughout the day.
For a fresh, luminous and radiant base, I am definitely recommending the VDL Lumilayer Primer! It contains a Violet Lumilayer Pigment, made by combining skin-brightening red light and blue light for clean and clear skin. When applied, it creates an intensity that illuminates the face and highlights features! Gives you happy and radiant skin!~
To brighten up my eyes so that I don’t look so tired, I’ve been using The Body Shop Matte Kajal Liner (White). It doesn’t lasts that long on the eyes so you’ve got to keep reapplying but I like how it visibly shows on the water line. It’s affordable as well, so, why not? Read my review here.
My current favourite beauty tool for blush is the Etude House Secret Brush 160 Duo Fiber! Looks princessy and royal, and works effectively to apply blushers to the apples of the cheeks! The ultra fine and soft bristles help to apply even the most pigmented blush in a very natural way. It’s rather small but blends perfectly on the skin. For the affordable price, this is worth more than every cent you pay.
I haven’t been quite touching my eyeshadows recently because there’s not enough time for that in the morning! Instead, I have been playing with lipstick colours for work! A holy grail nude shade I discovered is the ever moisturising and chic Marc Jacobs Beauty New Nudes Sheer Lip Gel (Eat Cake), a rosy nude that I feel is sure to complement most light to medium-dark skin tones. Well, what can I say? It’s amazing you have to try it out for yourself.
This is me clad in my beauty favourites for May! Well, except that you can’t tell I’ve used the moisturiser and brush. Here’s a lip swatch of the lipstick too!
Have you tried any of these products? Let me know how they worked for you if you did!
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
