Have you heard of Crème Simon? The french skincare brand, Crème Simon, was founded by a gifted young apothecary called Joseph Simon, in France in 1980, after he made a breakthrough discovery of a pure concoction of seven carefully selected flowers and plants with incredible healing properties. His humble remedy soon became Crème Simon, the era’s most coveted beauty treatment – prized by film stars; sold out in Paris, New York, and the Far East Orient; and passed down from mothers to daughters as their secret to beautiful skin. Last month, for Valentine’s Day, the Crème Simon Singapore team carefully curated a box of joy and love for me, giving me the chance to explore some of the bestsellers from the brand! The first thing I noticed when I opened this boxful of surprises was the distinct floral scent that belongs to all Crème Simon products! I can’t quite describe the scent but you’ll know what I mean when you encounter it yourself.
Because of my sensitive skin, I could only test these products one at a time in order not to disrupt my general skincare routine.
Based on the original heritage crème, the Crème Universelle is a lightweight, oil-free mosituriser known for its ability to heal acute dryness and skin irritations. It seeks to soothe dry skin and restores long-lasting moisture to body, hands and feet. The beauty about this product is that you can use it even on chapped lips!
The ingredients that this cream contains include the Original Crème Simon, a medicinal plant-based preparation honoured within the French Pharmacoepia; Sodium Hyaluronate which limits water loss by forming a barrier against dehydration; Aloe Vera for hydration and antioxidant purposes and Shea Butter for deep nourishing. It dispenses as a white cream but blends into a colourless substance. This powerful cream really works to moisturise, especially on my chapped lips, elbows and rough heels. You’ll be able to reveal full, supple lips with the use of this beauty! And the best part? You don’t feel any greasiness from the usual lip balms! Thumbs up!
Sunscreens are an important aspect of everyone’s daily routine but sadly, I am allergic to a lot of sunscreens in the market even with the “Non-comedogenic” label. Applying the wrong sunscreen will trigger an allergic reaction to my skin, causing redness and itchy bumps to form. I have yet to identify the ingredient(s) but have previously identified Vitamin B5 to be one of the many ingredients in some sunscreens which I am allergic to. Hence, in order not to trigger any allergic reaction, I gave the Daily Defense UV Protector SPF50 only 2 tries because typically by the 3rd trial, the reaction occurs if there were any allergens.
This sunscreen has won the HerWorld Beauty Awards 2015 as the Best Sunscreen. It’s lightweight, oil-free and contains an optimized UVA/UVB protection system, owing to a hybrid of mineral and chemical filters. Mainly, with Zinc Oxide as a physical filter, you’ll get enhanced protection against premature ageing and sun spots and the unique Activ-Fleur Complex – an exclusive botanical elixir of 7 flowers and plants proven to gently brighten skin. It is also non-comedogenic as well.
Freshen up with this light, refreshing and hydrating Dermo-Hydrating Toner Mist that removes traces of make-up and impurities, for a lovely clean and dewy skin without a sticky after-feel. Sprayed on hair and body, it has a delightful scent, the signature scent I was talking about.
This toner mist is very easy to use and hygienic as well because it comes in a spray bottle form. It really does help to remove any impurities on the skin after cleansing, when you use it with a cotton pad. Alternatively, you can also use it as a hydrating mist by spraying liberally over face, neck and body or to set makeup as well.
As a makeup junkie, I am obsessed with having lots of makeup removers at home to experiment because I want to be able to remove my makeup thoroughly. The Micellar Water Makeup Remover for Eyes and Face is a water-based no-rinse make-up remover. It’s refreshing and it gently and thoroughly lifts away all impurities and makeup, including waterproof makeup like mascaras with no oily after-feel.
With Advanced Micellar Technology combining the refreshing coolness of water with the cleansing action of chemical structures like oil micelles, this solution traps impurities and make-up. I have done a test on some makeup products on my hand, including waterproof mascara and eyeliner! It removes makeup really easily, even better than the current cleansing water! I highly recommend this because it also leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean.
The last product I tried is my favourite product from the brand, the Restorative Sleeping Mask. This fresh leave-on gel-mask works while you rest so you’ll be able to enjoy smooth and comfortable skin instantly upon application. Waking up to soft, luminous skin with no greasy after-feel, is no longer a dream with this sleeping mask!
There are 3 uses for this mask, mainly as an Overnight Mask, to apply on cleansed skin before going to bed, without rinsing; as an Emergency Moisturising Mask by applying a thick layer and leaving on for at least 15 mins before rinsing off and as an Intensive Moisturiser by using as per regular moisturiser in-flight or in cold climates. I enjoy this so much that I am now incorporating this sleeping mask into my daily skincare routine! I can now say goodbye to dry and oily skin waking up in the morning!
Overall, I really enjoyed testing and using these french skincare products because most of them are specifically tested on Asian skin and they work! The products are paraben-free and oil-free, so you don’t have to worry about getting them in your skin!
