Never fret about selfies anymore when you’re travelling with Casio EXILIM EX-ZR5000: Review

Casio EXILIM EX-ZR5000
Travelling makes up a huge part of my life now, ever since I started working in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions) industry. If you’re a reader of Parade of Love, you’ll know that the face behind this beauty blog carries a DSLR out all the time.
However, when I’m travelling, I always rely on my iPhone and never brings my heavy duty cam. I mean, everyone wants to travel light (well, at least I do, especially for business) so it’s perfect if you are able to capture special moments or scenery with a lightweight gadget that delivers high quality photographs! Just for this post, none of the photos are edited to show you what I mean by a quality compact camera. Introducing… Casio EXILIM EX-ZR5000!
There are 4 colours to this digital camera made for the perfect selfies – Black, White, Pink and Green! Aren’t they pretty! And well, this selfie cam features an upgraded 19mm super wide-angle lens and Wide View Photo mode to deliver expansive and high-impact scenic photographs that are sure to impress!

Literally I’ve just gotten back from my business-cum-leisure travel to Bangkok and I’ve experimented with it for 10 full days and here is my verdict:
(Hello from my hotel room with minimal makeup for Day 1 of work!)
Yes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Need I say more?
What I really love most about this digital camera is its tilt-type LCD and front shutter button for selfies! Say hello to E-A-S-E when taking self-shots, especially when you’re travelling alone. Even when you’re travelling with friends, the tilt-type LCD makes it easy for users to check the angle of the shot and correct the composition before snapping away. It’s convenient and definitely saves lots of time.
Additionally, with the HS Anti-Shake Effect and the Motion Shutter Detector, you can seriously cut a lot of effort and time to take the perfect selfie. The camera’s 5-axis image stabilisation delivers precise correction to compensate for blur caused by shaky hands when aiming the camera, while the motion shutter feature enables you to activate the shutter by simply waving a hand! Selfies can look like they were taken by others now 😉
Here are some even closer shots with the enhanced zoom function, also using the Make-up Mode which helps create natural and fresh-looking skin tones to achieve the ideal skin complexion.
Can you see how vibrant the colours are? These are all taken in front of natural lighting in my hotel room just before my work days started. Also experimenting with Inglot’s What a Spice! Fall collection… I just love the burgundy and reds.
(For once, I feel like a poster girl :D)
(I love how the eyeshadow colours turned out!)
Of course, a beauty fanatic has to review the beauty mode of the camera first, right? And throughout my trip, I find that this camera allows me to capture beautiful colours, especially in the day. Natural lighting brings out the best in this camera. Even though it doesn’t fare that well in indoor lighting, it’s a great camera to bring along if you’re going to be out most of the time.
(Taken before heading off for shopping! This was super minimal makeup and I still look awesome with the Make-up Mode.)
Some shots from Chatuchak and my adventures from Cafe-hopping with my colleagues turned friends 🙂
All these fun couldn’t have been captured if I was bringing my bulky DSLR along and we couldn’t have gotten beautiful rosy complexion if not for the beauty mode in ZR5000.
As you can see, even in indoors, the resolution and quality is still pretty decent.

Eggs benedict, my favourite!

Yummy sandwich. Could do with better lighting though.
Amazing creation with their house blend, made specially for Halloween! Love how it has nutmeg and cinnamon in it. Plus a roasted marshmallow of course!
Even the food looks super appetising and the colours are true to what I visually see.
Other than all the great functions mentioned, what’s good about this camera, or rather, many of Casio’s selfie cams is that they have got smartphone connectivity through Bluetooth® Smart. The Bluetooth® Smart technology enables and controls a constant connection between the camera and a paired smartphone through the EXILIM Connect app which is available for download. The EXILIM Auto Transfer makes image-sharing quick and immediate, especially great if you’re travelling with friends who love to update their social media handles.

Right after these fun shots were taken, I could easily send them out to my friends for sharing on social media 😉

Oh and before I end off, if you’re an Instagram filter addict or some kind of a photo-filter addict, maybe you do not have to use them anymore with the camera’s Selfie Art Mode!
(From L-R: Light Tone, Soft Focus, Toy Camera & Monochrome)
I truly enjoyed playing with the different functions of this camera, except that I thought it could perform better in dim lighting. Nevertheless, it makes for a good camera if you’re off dictating your travels!
The Casio EXILIM EX-ZR5000 is available at the Casio Concept Store in Tampines and licensed retailers. The Black is retailing at SGD699 while the rest of the colours retail at SGD629.
Create yourself and be gorgeous!
XOXO, Roanna.
