Reduce Redness with Exuviance Anti Redness Calming Serum: Review

Exuviance Anti Redness Calming Serum
Have inflamed skin? Or redness from irritation/acne? Sadly, that describes my skin on most days. I wasn’t born with the luxury of having good, flawless skin. In fact, I suffered from major acne woes during my secondary school days. Thankfully, with proper skincare steps and with age, they have subsided though I still get to see a cluster of them once almost every month during days when my period approaches, and it’s still annoying.
Also, recently, I encountered an allergic reaction while using a skincare product which turned the skin beside my nose areas red and itchy. I thought, what better way to test out the Exuviance Anti Redness Calming Serum than the combination of acne/allergy? It was definitely a risky choice to make but I wanted to go ahead to see if it lives up to its name!
The serum comes in a dark, forest green bottle, which I definitely didn’t expect because most skincare products come in lightly-coloured packaging to portray that “gentle and fresh” image. Besides, over the years of my encounter with skincare products, I have taken a strong liking to products that come with pumps, evidently, due to hygiene and ease of dispense. Hence, seeing that the serum has a pump head, I was quite delighted. No more messy pouring out of products on the hand!

The texture of the serum is unlike the usual semi-translucent texture too. It is light but milky and it combines active science and proven botanicals to visibly reduce redness and aid in preventing its recurrence, especially so for rosacea-prone skin. By the way, people with rosacea-prone skin has the tendency to blush or flush more easily than other people do and are more prone to acne-like breakouts, visible blood vessels on the face, and dry, irritated eyes (more information here).
As mentioned, I tested it out with my acne/allergy skin combination. I felt that my skin calmed down very quickly with this potent multi-tasker. Probably due to the active ingredients in this that provide reinforcement to the fragile skin to improve its resiliency and soothe the sensitivity (read more about the technicalities in the website here), my skin felt less itchy and less red too. What’s more, there is no added alcohol, fragrance or parabens that can upset delicate skin and it’s non-comedogenic and non-acnegenic. It absorbs well into the skin and you won’t experience any sticky residue as well.
Normally, if I were to experience allergy with skincare products, it’ll take me at least 4-5 days for the itch and redness to subside. With this Anti Redness Calming Serum, I have to say it’s a risk well-taken. The redness and itch disappeared after 2 days of diligent usage and if you were me, you’d be exhilarated at the reduced downtime from an allergy! From the picture below, you can tell that the redness of the allergic spot (with acne) and its surrounding areas reduced just after 10 minutes of application. The skin appears to be moisturised with shrunk pores as well from the before-and-after photos. The photos were taken under the same lighting the first time I used the product.
If I were to describe this serum in a phrase, I would have to say it’s “unconventional but effective“. It is unconventional due to its packaging (usually skincare that come in dark coloured bottles are meant for men and women’s skincare are mostly white or lightly-coloured) and texture but definitely no less than effective for its calming properties! It certainly lives up to its name! However, at S$115.55 a bottle, you probably have to look up a few more reviews to make that investment.
Another point to note, the Exuviance Anti Redness Calming Serum has won the Women’s Weekly Best Beauty Buys 2015 Award for best calming fix for sensitive skin! That tells you something about the credibility of the product and/or brand if you haven’t heard of it like I did before receiving this from the NeoAsia team (Thank you!).
