September 2014 Beauty Favourites: Review

September 2014 Beauty Favourites
Goodbye September, here comes a new month again! As always, at the end of every month, I love to summarise my beauty favourites for the month because it allows me to share the products that I have been loving for the entire month (well, almost).
Well, for me, September has been experimenting with lots of new products again, due to a swap box I did and many other purchases as well. Basically, I have been loving face finishing products and a variety of colours for different looks. I am also using a little cute red ethnic-looking bowl as a decoration to this spread.
Let’s hop right into my picks for September!

First up, we have a very gorgeous powder palette from Hourglass Cosmetics. This Ambient Lighting Powder Palette consists of 3 shades:

  • DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. I use this as an overall finishing powder, it’s soooooo good.
  • INCANDESCENT LIGHT (exclusive to the palette): An opalescent pearl powder that brightens the complexion with a celestial glow, I use this as a highlighter.
  • RADIANT LIGHT: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances the overall complexion with subtle warmth and a summer glow. I use this as a subtle bronzer.
Next up, a lovely BB Mineral Compact Powder that the sweet team from Ettusais Singapore sent me! My shade is in Natural Beige and I honestly like the finish of this because it sets my makeup matte. Furthermore, it has this cute limited edition lace motif prints that is a collaboration between Ettusais x Chikazawa Yu! Cutesy! 🙂
Of course, how can a makeup look be completed without a blush right? Here I have this Blush/Bronzer duo from Sonia Kashuk, an item picked for me from my swap box with dear Poise (@poise_anj). I took a liking for this one because of its beautiful snake scales prints on the product and also this is a 2-in-1. The bronzer is a gorgeous satin finish but it is really very pigmented, a little goes a long way. On the other hand, the blush seems to be way less pigmented, so I guess this is good for layering and blending.
For eyes, I have an eye primer, which I have always been raving about, and some eyeshadows. I know I have talked about the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray Eye Primer quite a number of times but I cannot emphasize how much I love this product! I have the deluxe sample here and I am just waiting for it to finish for me to get the full-sized product. I have this in Light/Medium and it provides my eyelids with a smooth base for eyeshadow application as well as a good base for under-eye concealers.
Because I have been working as a part-time beauty stylist in shu uemura and the grooming for this month is pink/purple eyes, I have been digging into my Milani Bella Gel Powder Eyeshadows pretty frequently. Also, I love using Bella Sand as a one-wash MLBB (my-lids-but-better) topped with Bella Khaki for definition. The pigments are very smooth and they blend pretty well too.

Last but not least, we have the lips right? Being a lazy girl who doesn’t like to re-apply lipsticks or any lip products, I have always been searching for that one lip product that doesn’t stray off my lips even when I eat or drink. And alas! Dear Poise sent me 3 of these Rimmel London Showoffs Lip Lacquers (a.k.a. Apocalips in UK) and I have been loving Nova and Celestial! Upon application, they feel so smooth and moisturising. After about 5-6 hours including eating and drinking, they amazingly stay on my lips! However, because I have dry lips, they do dry out a little and there will be a layer formed near the inside of the lips.
Nova is a pink nude while Celestial is a mauve nude.
Alrightyy, it’s the end of my favourites already, hope you enjoyed this short review on the products that served me well in the month of September! Let me know your thoughts if you have been using any of these!
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO
