Solone Flight of Fancy & Fantasy Wonderland Eyeshadows: Review & Swatches

Solone Eyeshadows Review
Undeniably, my favourite makeup category has got to be eyeshadows! If you know me well enough, you’ll know that I have a huge love for eyeshadows simply because I love to play with colours! There are a great variety of eye colours in the market, be it pressed ones, loose pigments and foil eyeshadows etc., and of course a huge myriad of brands too! Recently, I came across a Taiwanese brand, Solone, in SaSa (as mentioned in my previous review for their eye pencils) and the pigmentation of their eyeshadows really wow-ed me! Because of the cute packaging, I feel like I’m in a Solone Wonderland with these 2 palettes that I have, c/o Solone Singapore!
There are 2 series shown here, the left is a customised palette of eyeshadows and a blusher from the Alice Fantasy Wonderland (Flight of Fancy) series and the other is the Fantasy Wonderland series palette. I pretty much picked more vibrant colours for the customised one, simply because the other palette was clad in neutrals and I wanted to have a chance to try out as many shades as possible.
Usually, palettes are pre-made with shades and sometimes there are just shades that you don’t like in a particular palette, right? That often happens to me because I am rather picky when it comes to colours. With the new Solone Flight of Fancy series, you can have the luxury of picking out your own palette, which includes products like face powders, eyeshadows, blushers and applicators!
(These are all the combinations that you can play with, with the empty makeup box!)
These are what I picked out for my palette. I kind of have 3 extra eyeshadows apart from the 6 that’s in the palette. I have to say these eyeshadows are well-pigmented with only one swipe and they apply true to the pan’s colour on my eyelids! Blendability wise, I quite like it when I use them as a crease shade, especially the browns, they work nicely on the lids! As for the blusher, it gives a soft sweet hue on the cheeks and the lighter shade can be used as a highlighter, though I think that it could be less of a pinkish shade. Overall, for someone starting out makeup, you could literally build your own palette with a face powder, 2 neutral eyeshadows and a blusher for convenience!
Swatches for the shades I picked out:
If you are just starting out makeup and you don’t know how to play with eyeshadows, a good starter kit like the Solone Fantasy Wonderland Eyeshadow Kit would do the trick in helping you explore your inner creativity without being too crazy. It has a good mix of light and darker shades though I felt that there could be some mattes to balance out the satins and shimmers. The quality is there but I felt that the 2 large shimmer shades have a bit of fallout while applying so you do need to be careful on that. Overall, great quality for the price and it’s so small you can just carry it around in your makeup bag without taking up too much space!
So here are the swatches! These were swatched with just one swipe and look how pigmented they are!
Hope you enjoyed my short review on these underrated brand and if you do get your hands on these, do let me know what you think about them too!
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
