A lipstick game-changer – Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse: Review, Swatches, Makeup Look

Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse

After all the hype on the Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss, Urban Decay is set to transform our lip game by taking it one note down with the all new Lo-Fi Lip Mousse. I’ve been wearing them every single day and I can’t tell you how much I’m OBSESSED with the formula!

Think weightless, buildable and SUPER-PIGMENTED. I think that’s enough to shove all your current favourite lipsticks aside (for now).

(Something sweet for the week? #ParadeofSwatches dishing up a mousse dessert with 5/8 shades.)

We are already smitten by all the matte lipsticks we can have in the different textures possible – liquid and the regular solid bullets – but let’s welcome the new kid on the block! Housed in a little round shimmering purple compact, the Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse is a total game changer with its airy mousse texture.

About Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse

With a mega-mix of eight all-new shades ranging from cashmere-soft baby pink to plum purple and attention-grabbing bright orange, these lip mousses will guarantee high-impact colour with a velvety soft finish. It is said to be waterproof, so you can dab on a little and “keep calm and swim on”!

The Texture

The plush matte texture is what I really love about the formula. It enables you to quickly dab the pigment onto your lips and be done with your lip makeup. You can easily control the amount of pigment you want – from sheer to full-on coverage. If you’re feeling low-key, lightly dab with your fingertips for that “barely there” effect; and to turn it up a notch, you can use the little pop-out applicator to create intense definition. It’s just so effortless!

What I like to do on days when I need a bit of shine is to first apply lip balm to moisturise the lips before dabbing on some colour. It’ll give a nice shine that’s not over-the-top. Also, since the formula is kind of a powdery matte, I recommend exfoliating before dabbing onto your naked lips – it can really accentuate dry, chapped lips.

The lip mousse is also a multi-tasker with its whipped-to-airy-perfection formula. It not only performs as a matte lipstick, but also triples up as an eyeshadow and a blush! I’ve used one of the shades, Amplify, to create a National Day look during Singapore’s 53rd birthday, and I love how easy and fast I could complete my makeup!

The Shades

As usual, I’ve created a swatch art with 5/8 of the shades I was given:

  • Halo – cashmere-soft baby pink
  • Amplify – true red
  • Frequency – hot chilli red
  • Boom – plum purple
  • Echo – dusty mauve

My Overall Thoughts

All in all, if you’re looking for a powdery-matte lipstick that packs a punch and is small enough to fit in your (flat) clutch, the Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse is your best bet. My only gripe is that it didn’t last as long as I expected it to be. You definitely need to reapply throughout the day, especially if you have lip balm underneath. But well, since it’s so easy to touch-up, I have no complains here!

The Urban Decay Lo-Fi Lip Mousse retails for SGD33 a pop and is available at Urban Decay Singapore Free-standing stores and Sephora stores.

Create yourself and be gorgeous! XOXO, Roanna.
