Oh yeah, as the title says, you’re about to get burnt by the hottest launch of the year – the Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette. If you thought that the previous Naked palettes were hot stuff, brace yourself and enter the next level with the newest iteration.

The most sweltering Naked palette yet has reached our shores (yay!) and was sold out within an hour on Sephora Online during the pre-launch 2 weeks ago. How crazy is that? I’ve never heard of any palette being sold out in Singapore because I hardly see any girls with eyeshadows on the streets. So… does this mean that I will start seeing more girls hitting town with eyeshadows now?

Having owned all the Naked Eyeshadow Palettes, the addition of this palette was an exciting one for me. It’s like I need to “collect them all”! I simply can’t live without my Naked palettes. Usually, I reach out to my Naked 2 and Naked 3 palettes for the everyday neturals. I can totally envisage that I’ll be picking this up a lot. My go-to duo must now make some space for this hot baby.

About The Palette

The Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette is something never-before made. Expect 12 amber-hued neutrals – warm browns, burnt oranges and rich siennas – all housed in an aesthetically pleasing packaging. Everything from the packaging, to the palette and the shades, are super well-thought out. From a super-smooth red-brown matte and a glimmering copper to a deep, shifty bronze, this palette has everything you need to create sultry daytime looks, intensely smoky nighttime looks and almost everything in between.

The Scorching Shades

The 12 scorching hot shades in the palette include:

• Ounce – light beige with pearl shimmer
• Chaser – warm matte peach-beige
• Sauced – medium matte orange-brown [HOT]
• Low Blow – matte medium-brown with orange undertone
• Lumbre – warm coral-red with pearly gold micro-shimmer [HOT]
• He Devil – matte reddish-brown
• Dirty Talk – warm orangey frosted copper-brown
• Scorched – warm metallic red-brown
• Cayenne – matte warm brown [HOT]
• En Fuego – matte dark reddish-plum
• Ashes – matte deep plum
• Ember – deep frosted plum-brown with blackened base

The Texture

It’s no doubt that Urban Decay has one of the best pigmentation when it comes to eyeshadows. However, going through all the shades, I realised that the pigmentation is not consistent. You have fantastic mattes like Chaser, Sauced and He Devil, but also poorly pigmented ones like En Fuego and Ashes. Flattering as they may be when worn on the eyes, swatching those two surprised me. All hope’s not lost with these two though, for they can come out quite nicely when layered and worn on the outer corners of the eyes as intensifying shades.

Do You Need It?

If you’ve already had some of the Naked palettes, you might be wondering, “do I really need this?” In my opinion, I would scream a loud “YES” if you have spare cash and have the know-how to play with eyeshadow colours. As these colours are very warm-toned, it might be hard to pull off and can make you look like you’ve gotten punched in your eyes, if not handled carefully. That being said, this is definitely not the palette if you’re just starting to experiment with eyeshadows. I would recommend the Naked 1 or Naked 2 if you’re the kind who likes to play it safe.

The Makeup Look

For me, I like to spice things up when it comes to dressing my eyes, so this is definitely the right palette for me to create many (hot) eyeshadow looks. Here’s one I created using the Naked Heat Palette, together with the 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Torched, topped with the Naked Heat Capsule Collection Vice Lipstick in Fuel.

If you’re into intense looks, you may want to intensify the crease with a darker shade like Ashes (like what I did here) before applying the other shades.
