The new way to #StayNaked? Urban Decay shows us how. With the launch of foundations brand after brand, it’s hard to pick and choose!
Having tried the recent release of the Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation & Colour Correcting Concealer, I’m stoked! Time to put my wallet on hold in search for good base makeup because this duo is all I need. Oh, and did I mention the formulas are vegan too?
Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation
Talk about inclusion, Urban Decay has slayed its base makeup game this time round. The foundation has launched last month with a whopping 50 shades! In Singapore, we’ll be expecting 24 shades focusing on 6 shade intensities, 3 master-tones, and 4 undertones. I get that perhaps we don’t have that wide a range of skin tones in Asia, but bringing in only half of the shades doesn’t quite justify, does it? Anyway, let’s get into analysing the shade intensities, and breaking down “master-tones” and “undertones”, in Singapore’s context.
About the Shades
- Shade Intensity: 6, with shades ranging from 10 for ultra-fair skin, all the way to 70 for dark skin
- Master-tone: the overall tone of the surface of your skin; choose from Warm (W), Cool (C) and Neutral (N)
- Undertone: the natural hue of your skin; select from Pink/rosy (P), Orange/peachy (O), Yellow/golden (Y) and Neutral (N)
For me I have light-medium skin, with mastertone of either warm/neutral and undertone of neutral/yellow. I was matched to the shade: 40WY or 40NN. For comparison, I wear MAC NC20, Make Up For Ever Y245, Estee Lauder Double Wear 2W1 Dawn/3W1 Tawny.
Even though I was matched to 40, I could pull off 30WY as well and it does not oxidise on me.
The Formula
As marketed, the formula is easy to match to your true skin tone, which is true. It was easy to find a foundation based on the concept they’ve introduced.
What I absolutely love about the formula is the coverage and breathability. Even though the foundation has medium to full coverage, it does not feel heavy on the skin. The matte formula does not sink into the pores nor tug at lines which are plus points!
In the humid weather, the foundation lasts from 8am to 8pm (and beyond actually) without breaking apart, which is pretty rare. Most foundations break apart/becomes cakey on my skin by tea-time but not this! Note that I typically use a setting powder and a makeup setting spray with all my foundations.
The Verdict
If you love matte foundations, I say go for it! It’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever tried so far! What got me hooked was the fact that it lasts (without breaking apart in this humidity) the whole day! It’s 2 thumbs up for me. I think it’s time to revise my Top 5 Favourite Foundations!
Urban Decay Stay Naked Correcting Concealer
Similarly, the concealer originally has a line-up of 25 shades but only 12 of them are available in Singapore. The concealer adopts the same shade-picking concept as the foundation.
The Formula
Compared to the foundation, the concealer has got 25% more pigment and is full coverage. Despite being full coverage, the formula doesn’t weigh down on the skin. It melts seamlessly into my skin for a natural finish. I can even use this alone without foundation on the spots I want to cover and the under-eye areas.
The Applicator
What’s unique about the concealer is its patented wave tip applicator. Use the flat side for light and precise application and the curved side for higher coverage especially for the under-eyes.
The Verdict
I have been trying concealers with all the new ones swarming in every other month and this trumps it all. Coverage – check; smooth consistency – check; long-lasting – check.
I have been in love with the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, but I think it’s time to bid goodbye… What do you think?
The Urban Decay Stay Naked Weightless Liquid Foundation retails for SGD55, and the Stay Naked Correcting Concealer retails for SGD40 at Sephora online, Sephora stores and Urban Decay Freestanding Stores.
Create yourself and be gorgeous!
XOXO, Roanna.

Hey girl! If you match the 40WY. Why did you get the 30WY? Are they similar?
Heya! During the press event, they gave out generic shades, so I did not have 40WY. However, I now have 40WY already and it’s exactly my skin tone. 30WY is slightly fairer than my skin tone but does not differ too much, hence I am still able to wear it out!
