Who doesn’t take his/her own selfies in this day and age? Stepping into the selfie generation, we’re now looking at new and improved technology gadgets (mainly cameras) targeted at creating the best selfies for you!
Not a fan of selfies but I am still very impressed by Casio’s range of selfie cameras and this review is all about the ultimate selfie genie – Casio EXILIM EX-TR60!
The camera comes in 4 colours – Green (more towards mint green), Violet, Pink and Silky White- so very obviously targeting the ladies. I was sent the mint green one for a review when I was on my trip to Melbourne just 2 weeks ago this is going to be a low-down on this product after experiencing for a week! Ain’t the mint green colour chic and sweet? I love how it complements my BB Cushion at the back, ha! 😉 It was complementing my minty blue Paris J’adore luggage I brought with me to Melbourne too!
The EXILIM EX-TR60 is essentially an improved version equipped with Bluetooth® Smart Technology, easy-to-use Selfie Pad, Selfie Art Function and enhanced Make-Up Technology, assuring all you ladies of the most beautiful self-portraits! With the Bluetooth technology, you can share your personalised photos instantly and seamlessly! All you need to do is to download the smartphone app Exilim Connect and Scene, for you to effortless connect to your smartphones.
The EX-TR60 combines EXILIM Engine HS Ver.3 with a high sensitivity 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor and a newly developed lens with outstanding optic qualities. Even in dark or backlit conditions, the camera has high brightness LED for capturing beautiful images! This means you can enjoy selfies effortlessly that are a cut above anything you’ve ever experienced before! Just flip the screen up and you are ready to snap!
In terms of image quality, the camera has a single focus lens, and it’s 11.1 megapixels, which means pretty decent resolution for your everyday selfies. The 3.0 inch super clear LCD screen also gives you clarity when you take your photos. I think in terms of closeness when you snap your selfies, you pretty much have to still be a distance away from the camera in order for your photos to be sharp. This is definitely not a camera to take very close up shots.
How this camera works is that you flip it up and you snap by pressing the convenient side shutter button. It takes a while for the shutter to readjust for a new shot so be patient! This is probably one of the little things I didn’t like about the camera. I think it could load faster.
Anyway, there is of course, a Beauty Mode to this selfie camera so that your photos make you appear flawless! The Make-up Plus technology allows you to give your skin a beautiful, natural and smooth appearance while keeping its tonal gradations. There are 12 levels of “Smooth Skin” function you can pick from and adjustments can be made to your skin tone as well to reflect your ideal skin tone if you wish!
To illustrate my point and to visually experience the camera, I have taken some photos with the Casio EXILIM EX-TR60 and the images are non-edited in terms of colour/sharpness etc., unless otherwise stated.
Here are some shots from Melbourne during the day:
Yay to flawless, baby skin!
And one during the night. Apologies for my awkward sly smile hahaha!
When I came back to Singapore, I was still trying to experiment to test the photo quality indoors. Just look at the quality of the stills! You can’t really see the gradation in my eyeshadows but look how my makeup just looks flawless and defined!
An attempt of a close-up shot. You can see a little gradation in terms of the eyeshadow colours 😉
There is also a Selfie Art Mode featuring six artistic effects to personalise your selfies! I didn’t manage to play with them because I thought that the original colours were very much preferred. In any case, the 6 modes are:
- High Key – results in a natural lighting effect
- Foggy – gives a softer ambience
- Fairy – accentuates feminine facial features
- Nostalgia – evokes a sentimental mood
- Vivid – brightens photos
- Square – automatically adjusts image ratio to easily share on social media
