A fragrance of sophistication, the Tory Burch Absolu: Review

Tory Burch Absolu
Modern. Sophisticated. Feminine. The three words to describe the new fragrance by Tory Burch, the Tory Burch Absolu.
Tory Burch Absolu is a new variation from her first fragrance. It presents a blend of the iconic ingredients from the Tory Burch Eau de Parfum launched back in 2013 while being intensely refined by notes of fresh tuberose, pink pepper, and pure rose grounded in earthy vetiver and sandalwood. Its sillage is intensely strong, and it’s a scent that a modern capable woman would wear.
If you know Burch, you’d not be a stranger to her elegant yet chic packaging. Her signature orange-gold fretwork and beveled-edged design is a nod to her mother Reva Robinson’s bedroom vanity and the classic perfume bottles and atomisers that graced it. Contained in a super-chic glass bottle, the golden yellow liquid of the Tory Burch Absolu is a boldly sophisticated take on the designer’s signature scent.
Absolu opens with an immediate vibrancy created through contrasting elements of pink pepper and blackcurrant buds blended with the soft natural femininity of Lily of the Valley. The opening notes of this scent took me by surprise with its powerful and energetic composition, a tad too forceful in my opinion because I prefer a more graceful scent. If you love fragrances with jasmine notes, you’d be attracted to this.
In the heart lies a bold floral bouquet of rose, fresh tuberose and the radiance of jasmine sambac while the base offers a balance of creamy sandalwood with the textured facets of vetiver and cedarwood. The notes of vanilla continues to create a warm and sensual trail. Though I am in love with the chic packaging, the scent seems to be too overpowering for me with every note intensely fighting with each other. Perhaps it’s the pink pepper or the jasmine sambac, I feel a lot less drawn to this floral blend. Perhaps a fruitier and fresher scent is more suitable for my age group.
However, I can imagine myself donning this fragrance once in while for an important occasion. I can see a woman in her 30s to 40s with a sexy sequinned maxi dress elegantly taking her time down a flight of stairs with this sillage. That sophistication and elegance, it’s something a confident and powerful matured woman would wear.
Tory Burch Absolu will be available in November 2015 at Tangs at Tang Plaza, Tangs VivoCity, Takashimay and Robinsons The Heeren at S$153 for 50ml and S$197 for 100ml.
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡
XOXO, Roanna.
