It’s always a dilemma when it comes to the question of, “What do I wear today?” This is especially so when you’re travelling, isn’t it? I often find myself not being able to pack light. I always want to bring the entire season’s fashion trend with me so that I can have choices. The fact is that you only have got 23-30kg to fly with even after your crazy shopping so no over-packing!

My recent Seoul trip taught me never to try bringing my entire wardrobe again because ultimately, I was re-wearing some of my comfy sweater pieces over my thermal wear. I ended up with a couple of clothes unworn so, here are some tips and OOTDs (Outfit Of The Day) from my Seoul searching trip earlier this month, just to give you an idea of what to dress for the winter season. I’ll be ending the post with a Style Challenge video too!

The Essentials

Seoul was my first winter trip I experienced with sub-zero temperatures and I didn’t really know what to expect. Being a vain girl as I am, I of course brought with me some fashionable pieces to style. Luckily I packed the Uniqlo Heat Tech Extra Warm thermal wear, if not I’ll definitely be a frozen ice block by the end!

With 2 winter jackets, I was quite safe. Most of the time I had my Zara Parka-styled Fur Hooded Jacket on. The fur inside the jacket trapped my body heat much better than my Target Navy Trench Coat. Keeping your legs warm is very important too. I brought a couple of thick leggings with fur on the inside, from Qoo10, and I kept them on every day too.

When in winter, the key to keeping warm in style is to layer. Layering is the best way you can showcase your fashion sense and it’s also a very efficient way to style with your limited baggage space. You can reuse certain pieces such as outerwear and bottoms to achieve a different look.

Winter Street Style

I styled with a blush pink knitted pullover from Forever 21, leather shorts coincidentally also from Forever 21, with this gorgeous Emu Australia Midnight/Black Winton Boot, , a matching pink beanie and grey tassel earrings from Lovisa.

I absolutely love the boots and I received so many compliments from tourists and locals when I was walking on the streets! It’s super lightweight and features a deluxe wool collar that’s soft and warm. It also has a contoured memory foam footbed that is super comfy for walking.

To switch up the look a little, I added on a woollen looped scarf from Forever 21 as well, and changed my hairstyle to a half bun with a nice funky head scarf.

What do you think? Cute? I think I am going to get a couple of headbands just to sport this look once in a while, teehee!

Injecting a bit of femininity to the look, I switched into a black turtleneck top from Joop Boutique’s Jovet and an embroidered floral skirt I got a couple of years back from Bugis Street.

Feminine/Preppy Winterwear

Moving towards the feminine and mature side of me, I have four outfits here, and one of which I bought during a Style Challenge in Hongdae with My Fat Pocket’s Editor, Xinyi (@xinyicyndisoh). For the next 2 looks, I’m fully decked in Jovet. Jovet has many nice feminine outfits which I really love but I chose these because they reflect my style.

This first look is a very preppy one with a pink long-sleeved turtleneck and a checkered ruffles skirt, paired with my trusty Rebecca Minkoff Mini Crosby Leather Crossbody Bag in Neon Yellow, with a thick chestnut brown beret.

I love hats but I never got to wearing them often because my head is really small and I often find them sliding off after a couple a minutes. This beret is a perfect fit for me though and I wore it throughout the day without problems! Major love!

The second look has so much feels especially when I’m standing on the cold winter streets of Gangnam. Does it give you K-drama vibes? Teehee. This set is super versatile for it features a grey knitted dress that can be worn over any outfit for that touch of maturity. Paired with a cascading tri-coloured scarf and H&M suede booties, I’m all ready to wait for my Oppa in the cold (hahaha just kidding).

For a more mature look, you can opt for darker colours such as a navy blue trench from Target, paired with a striped slit skirt from Something Borrowed, Zalora. I decided to wear a comfy white knitted top because it was -3°C and I needed something thicker and warmer. My H&M suede booties kind of tied the whole look together, don’t you think?

And the last look? The Style Challenge! So Xinyi and I did a SGD100 Style Challenge when we were shopping in Hongdae. There were many affordable apparels so we wanted to challenge ourselves to put together a look with only 80,000 Korean won. Watch the video below to find out what we got:

Xinyi was going for an eclectic look while I was going for my usual preppy but sexy. Well, I had a short and tight A-line skirt with leggings combination. What do you think? Who did it better? 🙂
