Can you believe it, half the year has gone by already! Now that we are halfway into July, I’m wondering to myself, “what have I been doing for the past 6 months?”.

Anyway, to round up June, here are my beauty picks for the month! June was a month of experimenting with new products here and there and discovering new favourites! Let’s go straight into my June 2015 Beauty Favourites, shall we?

I always start with skincare for an obvious reason – skincare should always come before makeup. This is so as to protect and prep your skin for easy makeup application!

My skin-changing, life-changing miracle – Biotherm Life Plankton Essence: Review

Biotherm Life Plankton Essence
I have discovered it, have you?
The Biotherm Life Plankton Essencehas made it into my daily skincare routine just after 2 weeks of testing it out! Since the launch of this product, there have been a lot of raves and I can finally comprehend why. This bottle of toner/lotion/essence simply does what it claims to do – hydrate, soothe and soften skin.
You’d probably know by now I am a huge fan for any hydration skincare product because I believe that actual replenishment of moisture or water to the skin cells will aid in the skin’s natural healing functions.

Anti-aging with Belif: Review

Anti-aging with Belif
Earlier last month, in celebration of International Women’s Day, the sweet team from Belif sent a lovely care package consisting of some of their star products! I had the opportunity to try the Peat Miracle Revital Serum Concentrate and the True Anti-Aging Essence out, both of which are for anti-aging.

Being in my early 20s, I am sad to say that I  have a skin age of 28 due to improper sun care during days when I do outdoor sports like Netball and Track & Field. Ever since I started blogging, I’ve been more diligent in my skincare routine so as to improve my skin concerns. With this anti-aging duo, my skin has appeared more radiant and healthy!

My favourite of the 2 has got to be the Peat Miracle Revital Serum Concentrate. It is a clear, viscous fluid that penetrates very quickly into the skin, leaving no greasy residue at all. It contains 20% Peat extract, a type of herb found in Peatlands, and is an old secret formula that ancient Egyptians and Romans used for skin protection. It has this light herbal scent that I find really calming as well.
Besides revitalising the skin and increasing the skin’s turnover rate, the serum also helps in combating signs of aging, skin dullness and elasticity. Since it absorbs very rapidly and is lightweight, it is, in my opinion, suitable for even oily skin types. The product comes with a dropper for you to dispense the serum and all you have to do is to apply 1-2 drops (more than enough) after your toner and pat gently to aid in absorption. It is a little sticky at first, be patient, because it’ll go away once all the serum gets absorbed.
I find that upon applying this, my skin feels instantly hydrated, firmer and is visibly bouncier as well! After using for about a week or so, you’ll be able to see that skin clarity has improved and pores have also tightened. I was a little surprised to know that it’s being priced at S$85, but I guess since this bottle contains so much goodness for the skin and is free of mineral oils, synthetic fragrances/colours/preservatives and animal-derived ingredients, it’s worth every penny you spend!
Following which, I apply the True Anti-Aging Essence, which is a two-layered shaking essence containing a Calendula moisturising whipping cream layer and the clearer Acai Berry essence layer. The first thing I noticed about this essence is the scent! It smells a lot like lemon cream biscuits, those from the huge metal biscuit tins that you see in the local supermarkets.
3 Napiers* formulas:
(*Duncan Napier is a British herb expert)
Calendula is known for its moisturising and soothing effects while Acai Berry is famous for its super anti-oxidant properties to prevent skin aging. With 2 layers in the essence, you have to shake and mix the contents in the bottle before dispensing and applying on your skin. Like the serum, this is quick in being absorbed as well and gives the skin instant hydration. A week of usage will make your skin really soft and supple.
I used to think anti-aging starts when we’re in our 30s but I was so wrong! In fact, you can start as early as 20 because 10 years down the road, your skin will be so thankful.
Create yourself and be gorgeous! ♡

XOXO, Roanna.
