It’s been a while since I’ve last penned a review because well, life often gets in the way of our plans, right? And good news, we’re finally transitioning life back to normal which means that we can finally bare our lovely faces in public without the need for masks! Just last month, I took a trip (in fact, two trips!) down to Halley Medical Aesthetics in search of a treatment for my acne-prone skin and was recommended the Clarifying HydraFacial.
About HydraFacial
Unlike the traditional spa-like facial, HydraFacial is much more than that. It is a medical-grade hydra-dermabrasion that uses a patented three-part regime to cleanse, exfoliate, and infuse. It utilises antioxidant-rich serums to nourish the skin.
For the longest time, I’ve been piqued with acne issues which affected my self-confidence. I can’t imagine going back to the days when all I worried about was my skin! Now, despite having clearer skin, I still suffer from the aftermath of acne – pores and scarring. In hopes of gaining a smoother complexion, I made my way to Halley Medical Aesthetics to explore treatment options.
Consultation at Halley Medical Aesthetics
Being conveniently located in town, Halley Medical Aesthetics offers a wide variety of medical aesthetic treatments. From face rejuvenation, face lifting and contouring, acne/scar treatment, tattoo/ hair removal to weight management and body firming, most treatments are non- and minimally-invasive. In this day and age, I think you’ll agree with me that treatments with minimal downtime are much preferred.

As a teenager, I never liked attending family gatherings. In fact, I DREADED my time there, especially during the Chinese New Year gatherings. Having suffered from acne since I was 14, I was often the talk of the town whenever I was in the same space with my relatives. There’s just something about them that wouldn’t stop commenting on my pock-marked face.
Why I Needed AGNES
Being a sensitive girl, every single comment I received about my acne-piqued skin would kill me inside and bruise my self-confidence. I became apprehensive about leaving the house and indulged in lots of thick foundation to try to cover all my blemishes, but to my horror, made them worse. The makeup on my skin then became another talking point for my relatives because I was then chided for wearing makeup and making my acne worse. Truth be told, those days were like living hell and I desperately needed a cure.
Trust me, I’ve tried many “solutions” in the market, including topical acne treatments, laying off heaty food like chocolate, chips and fried food, Oratane (a.k.a. Isotretinoin, a medication primarily used to treat severe acne), medi-facials (medical facials for acne) and more but none of them worked. Fast forward 10 years now, I’m still suffering from hormonal acne and ugly post-acne scars until I met Dr. Gerard Ee from The Clifford Clinic.
WARNING: REPULSIVE IMAGES AHEAD BUT WORTH LOOKING FOR IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
Time is zooming past so quickly, so much so that I can’t catch up! Gosh, we’re reaching the end of the year and I can’t believe that Christmas is coming. I’m so excited for Christmas parties, now that my skin has cleared so much as compared to 2016 at this time of the year. I can finally feel more confident about my complexion all thanks to ASTIQUE, The Aesthetic Clinic (ASTIQUE). I’m never more thankful for taking that leap of faith to go for regular laser treatments at this cosy place.
My Treatments with ASTIQUE
My year-long journey with ASTIQUE has been an amazing one as I visibly see major improvements on my complexion after every treatment. The one thing I feel most comfortable here is that I don’t even need to put on makeup after my sessions! There is no downtime at all for the treatments I do here (Laser Skin Rejuvenation – Nd:YAG laser, PPx Pore-Cleansing ACNE Treatment™ and CoolTouch) so I don’t have to worry about redness etc. after each session.
Hair removal treatments can be quite a sensitive topic for many ladies, but definitely not for me. I’m always very open when it comes to the different types of treatments I do so nothing goes underneath the rug, hidden.
Why I Chose IPL Hair Removal?
For about a while now, I have been feeling uncomfortable with the hair growth at my bikini area but was hesitant to resort to IPL Hair Removal treatments because I was afraid of pain. I’m already undergoing laser treatments for my face and it stings so I really can’t imagine how it will be like down under. It was not until I read up on EstheClinic’s Silky Smooth IPL Hair Removal Treatment did I realise that IPL for the bikini area can be really comfortable and painless! I decided to give it a go.
Prior to this review, I have already went through 3 sessions (6 weeks apart from each other starting from May 2017) and I only wanted to express my thoughts now as I was told that 3 sessions is the optimal time where hair growth really slows down. I won’t be showing detailed pictures (obviously I can’t) because it’s the bikini area, but I have tried to record and keep track of the duration of hair growth to provide a thorough review of the Silky Smooth IPL Hair Removal Treatment.
